LOL Samuel Peter is the heaviest hitter in the division and Wlad took that fight without hesitation, im sure hes not worried about Briggs, I would rather have him unify too than fight washed up bums from the 90's. Atleast Brock is undefeated and ranked in the top 3 of the IBF rankings legitimizing the fight. -
Regardless.Originally posted by 7001I was saying for that fight. Had he been in better shape and a bit smarter. Where are you getting that I said he was in better shape and smarter and has improved since his fight with Wlad?
Briggs is the one ducking Wlad, not the other way around. And not to mention.....Peter hits harder and is a much bigger threat than briggs is when it comes to beating him.

Good post. The Briggs thing is a mess; if Wlad beats him we will read about Briggs being "lewis's leftovers," which is true. But if they never fight, we will read forever about how Wlad ducked Briggs, and a dozen regular posters will become Briggs fans suddenly and the whole conversation will be the same as Vitali-Rahman.
Brock on the other hand is fresh meat, and if Wlad beats him then he will have made one small move towards cleaning the division of his contemporaries, which is what a champ is supposed to do. If Wlad is as good as his fans think, he needs to run the table of Brock/Brewster/Lyakovich/Peter(again)/Ibragimov/Valuev. He has to beat three or four of those guys (forget Briggs, Toney, and anyone else 37+) to be "the man."Comment

as much as i like Brock and want to see him beat Wlad, he isnt ready to fight that kind of fight. I think Brock has the heart and the drive, but I also think that he doesn't have the experience.
Wlads hands are faster than his and his over all boxing is sharper than Brocks at the moment. plus with all of wlads holding, he'll be able to tie up Brock all fight long, muscle him around and wear him out.
I think this fight is too soon for Brock, I would like to see Brock fight one or two more contenders before fighting Wlad. you know Steward and Wlads team realize that Brock is still green right now when it comes to taking his first title shot, as well as fighting (currently) the most talented heavyweight in the division. (well Wlad has all the tools, but i still question his chin as well as his heart, but thats a different topic).
the thing is there isnt a whole lot of guys for Brock to build on in the division right now. so it's tough to say who is credible and who isnt, but beating a guy like Brewster or Peter, or even Samil Sam,(there are others not mentioned) guys that will possess a challenge in fighting them, is needed before fighting someone like Wlad. Wlad has good experience and knows how to use his attributes, he's good at fighting efficient and he knows how to fight scared. i think that Wlad at this point in both their careers will beat Brock, sad to say.Last edited by deuce_drop; 08-26-2006, 06:43 PM.Comment

How can you say this and have people take your opinions seriously?Originally posted by deuce_drop(well Wlad has all the tools, but i still question his chin as well as his heart, but thats a different topic)
Has no heart?? Why is it that Gatti can be called couragous for fighting Floyd taking a beating for 6rounds going down only once while Wlad fought Sanders went down FOUR times and got up every single time trying to slug it out?Comment

It does seem like Wlad (after winning title) has just been about fighting safe guys..its not that he really pisses me off its just, dont talk **** then. He said he wanted to unify no matter what, and all these interviews calling out champs-its so dissapointing i dont care if the other champs dont have as much chance as briggs i wanna see them unify and get this over with-right now he just adding to the problem.
When it comes to Brock this is how i see it,Brock deserves it and he has fought (semi-)hard to get there but he had problems with crappy fighters how is he gonna beat Wlad (i hope he shuts me up and proves me wrong but), i dont see it happening. In times like this when u cant fight a champion(even tho there calling ur ***** ass out) then fight the one man people say can beat u to shut them up(briggs) and prove urself. Main point i never though Wlad as a whole figher was better then Vitali, people use the oh he owned sam peters thing so he can take any punchers-he was down several times and ran at times and exhuasted. Point is he will always have problems with punches and if we know it,stewart and Wlad know it.
Edit:tho i will say the brock fith is interesting but it just seems to easy like the byrd rematch.Comment

how about this my sensitive friend, his heart is suspect as well as his chin.
of course he was getting up against sanders, it was his hometown and his family was there. he had too, and you could see he didn't want too either. he had no clue on how to fight a southpaw, thats why he was trying to slug as you call it, it looked more like flailing to me.
he quit against puritty when he was challenged and stood up to.
people say that wlad gases against brewster, but he quit, it was all in his head, and for being poisoned, bull****, just a cop out and a excuse. or too much vaseline on his legs, sounds good. he almost had another encounter against williamson and he was holding for dear life and excessively holding in his fight with sam peter.
i aint a wlad hater but i call it how i see it. i call a spade a spade, flat out. be it in boxing or any other part of my life, either if it is someone i like or dislike.
and yes wlad has loses. any fighter worth a damn has some losses. i just think that i find him to be weak in two areas in his arsenal. he has heart, just not as much as you expect a dominant world champ to have.Comment
