"Bigger than most in the sport" isn't a ringing endorsement on his public appeal. That is my point. If you ask anybody(besides his devoted fans)who they want to see fight, PBF is not going to be on the list. This isn't about love for Margarito or hate for PBF. It is just about the desire to see a truly all-time great fighter in a memorable fight. In my opinion, PBF hasn't had that yet. -
I really don't think that Floyd cares about the division. Floyd is on the way to cementing his legacy and earning million upon millions of dollars. Fights like DLH, Mosley, and Hatton (all future hall of famers) will do much more for his legacy and wallet than Margarito. Spinks holds the most legitimate 154 title, so that give PBF a title in another weight class (5 division champ). A victory over Margarito doesn't do much for PBF's legacy right now. If Margarito beats some good fighters then....Originally posted by trueboxingfanhe should fight Baldi..if he wants to dominate the division.. he should also fight Margarito....or the winner should atleast.Comment

Most guys dont get that until this stage of there career and you know he will soon fight Oscar, Mosley, and after that Hatton will be ready, Cotto, Williams, Margarito. Dont act like he hasnt tried. How many times have Hatton turned him down, Oscar, and Shane?Originally posted by Jimislash"Bigger than most in the sport" isn't a ringing endorsement on his public appeal. That is my point. then we have a difference of opinion. i think DOMINATING divisions does more for a fighters legacy then fighting "names"....most boxing enthusiest agree...they will just say he beat guys that are not in thier prime..or if he loses, that he lost to guys not in thier primeOriginally posted by bakey321I really don't think that Floyd cares about the division. marg fans are just pissed mayweather won't fight who many believe has the style to defeat him, putting all accomplishments aside, I mean you got many boxing writers claiming it even larry merchant and ray "boom boom" manicini say it, I think they feel their fight would look similiar to castillo-mayweather 1 where as margarito wouldn't let mayweather off the hook and turn it into a bar room brawl.

If this is what happens, I will be right there on the PBF bandwagon. I look forward to that type of itinerary for PBF, in no particular order.Originally posted by DLTMost guys dont get that until this stage of there career and you know he will soon fight Oscar, Mosley, and after that Hatton will be ready, Cotto, Williams, Margarito. The difference is that in 20 years people WILL know who Oscar De La Hoya is. People MIGHT know who Antonio Margarito is. When you go through the list of fighters that beat Ali, you see Larry Holmes. Was Larry Holmes a great fighter? Sure he was good, but he lost to almost every big name he fought (Holyfield, Tyson, M. Spinks). But he will still be among the very few who beat the great Muhammed Ali. See my point? DLH beat the great Chavez, but nobody really talks about it being when Chavez was 34 and had almost 100 fights under his belt. It is about the big names.Originally posted by trueboxingfanthen we have a difference of opinion. i think DOMINATING divisions does more for a fighters legacy then fighting "names"....most boxing enthusiest agree...they will just say he beat guys that are not in thier prime..or if he loses, that he lost to guys not in thier primeComment
