listen, PBF is the face of boxing right now whether you like it or not. Every sport needs their star and Floyd is their star. He's got the skills and the personality that make people love him or hate him. I agree that once he loses a fight, we will have nothing to talk about. He IS boxing right now, he's the only household name, and he has a chance to do things that no other boxer has ever done. I don't think even the biggest Floyd haters truly want to see him lose because when he does, then what?

i'd say that oscar de la hoya is more of a household name that pbf is.

A Floyd win could only help the sport. I don't think Baldomir speaks English, and is not exciting IMO unless he knocks his opponent out.

          Baldo to beat PBF

Oh come on... it would be great for boxing if baldo wins, we can then see oscar vs baldo at 147 for teh undisputed WW title. that'd be great man, lets hope that happens..

I remember it the same. We were convinced it was impossible, that no man would ever do that. I doubt that people involved in the sport saw it that way, but the public, especially those of us who were young, were shocked beyond belief. Floyd does not have that kind of mythology about him. Not even close.

If Floyd loses, you can say goodbye to fights with De La Hoya, Hatton, and Mosley right off the bat. So no, this would be very bad for boxing.

Same goes for Hatton. If he loses his "0", then he can say goodbye to fights with Mayweather and whoever else he was looking at.

but hindsight serves us well. looking back, Tyson had all sorts of flaws, none of which have arisen in Mayweather. Mayweather is flawless. he can only be beaten by his own ambition at this point. nobody from 147 on down can beat him, of that I am convinced. the danger lies at 154. if you look at some of Tyson's fights even before he became champion, like Reggie Gross, for example. Reggie Gross had him hurt. Mayweather has never appeared hurt, even for an instance. a lot of people say chop chop hurt him, but I don't see it. and then Tyson was being outboxed for a couple rounds at times, even by fat guys like Tony Tubbs, before Tyson would overwhelm him. people that thought Tyson was invincible were quite foolish in retrospective. I don't know how I would have viewed him because I didn't get into boxing until Tyson was about done as a legitimate fighter in 96 with the first Holyfield loss. but virtually all experts have seen no flaws in Mayweather.

It is good for boxing if Baltazar beats Floyd, I'm so sick about how this PBF select his opponent and claiming he is the best.

Im sorry...you really have to have witnessed it to understand that there was an aura about Tyson that no other fighter had, or probably will ever have. Frankly you can say that now, but in 1990, nobody..i mean NOBODY was saying that ****, trust me.

I guarantee in 1988 after the Spinks knockout they weren't saying ****, and I know nobody on the planet predicted Douglas to beat him in 1990, but you also have to consider all of Tyson's problems throughout 1989 like his divorce and change of camp and think "this guy is going to have some problems in the ring soon". More often than not, your problems outside the ring catch up to you in the ring. Fighters like Tapia avoided it and Mayweather is cleaning up his act very wisely, but most of the time, your career goes downhill when your life does.
