Seriously though, these new age cats think that they deserve to face the guys that have put in work for a decade just because they beat 15 bums in a row. Valdez would smash Shakur. Valdez has fought through a broken jaw. Fought on the biggest stage. I’d say Shakur would have a case if he had at least 20 wins with some of those coming against higher tier opponents. But who the hell has this guy beaten to even be considered an opponent much less the victor against a two division, undefeated veteran who has been putting in work for nearly a decade? These same dudes will tell you that Fernando Vargas career was cut short because they put him in with the big dogs too early. But Shakur Stevenson deserves a fight? Incredibly ridiculous.

yes, on paper canelo got the win vs both but many people thought Canelo lost vs Lara and conceivably could have. Regardless of how you scored that fight, the main point is that canelo looked much better vs an aggressive Mexican style than he did vs a slick boxing style.
Obviously I didn’t mean the word miracle in a literal sense. It was in response to the guy who said that Reynoso will come up with the plan and Valdez would surely win. I don’t think it’s a lock that Valdez beats Stevenson and if you know boxing, you wouldn’t think so either. I also wouldn’t be putting all of my confidence in Reynoso making that happen. At the end of the day, Valdez is the one who has to fight regardless of what his trainer plans. And until yesterday, Valdez didn’t look all that great with Reynoso. So the miracle comment means that Valdez is the fighter and no trainer can wave a magic wand and make the fight play out as they planned.

I agree with you but true or false valdez is more proven at the highest level then Shakur? And true or false we both agree that we both can’t guarantee who would win that fight??? Also, for the record... I thought berchelt would win yesterday... valdez grew in front of my eyes and this is one of the best victories I’ve ever seen and the knockout was great but even more
Impressive was the total domination that valdez did. He executed their game plan to a tee and I can’t remember a time where a fighter went up in weight, even though this wasn’t his first fight at this weight... but went up and fought the champ as an underdog and was this dominant... one of the greatest championship wins I’ve ever seen by an underdog... so Sonora!!!!

Stevenson hasn’t proven anything besides having no pop. Credit to him though for wanting to fight the top guys in the division but he has yet to prove anything.

i think this will be a a bad style match up for Valdez. It could be like when Erik Morales went from convincingly beating Pac to convincingly losing to Zahir Raheem in the very next fight.

I remember when Arum was mad at Zahir for beating Morales. He basically said in the post fight interview "let's someone else promote him".
