Skills. Brains. Craft. Talent. The man had it all. Didn’t like his hesitation to not fight at home and I thought his ring tactics can uld be borderline at times but hey, he kept it within the lines. I wish he wouldn’t have retired when he did. I think he had a lot more left in him. We’ll see if he try’s for a comeback.
Grade a fighter day 15: What grade do you give Andre Ward?

I just think it is pretty clear that he got it done, because he had a good bit of help. You're just a hater, nothing more to it really.
When you fail to give someone credit who clearly deserves it, your true colors show.
Maybe you didn't think he was that great stylistically, but to refuse to acknowledge what he did by calling all his competition average and claiming the amateurs is a walk in the park let's me know everything I need when you assess Ward and his career. Maybe it didn't look that special, but he always got the job done and very convincingly, against the best in the world consistently since age 10. To me it seems you didn't fancy the way in which he got it done, but he got it done nonetheless.
That's not hate, just analysis. As I've said basically every time I critique him, he was a very tough, smart fighter in the ring. I just don't think he was all that skilled, and benefitted greatly results-wise from being the home fighter in his career.
Can you name his best non-controversial win, besides Froch? And again even then, he fought Froch at home in the US.
Idk I just don't see how analysis wise people get so enthused about Ward. I honestly don't think most people on here who revere him have seen many of his fights. Support for him seems unthinkingly tribal.Comment

And here comes gggs head cheerleader, still mad about his hero ducking a Ward fight.I just think it is pretty clear that he got it done, because he had a good bit of help.

B, he was a boring and dirty fighter. He thrived against other B and C-level fighters. Career was too short and without a win over an A-level fighter.Comment

When you consistently watch him make these great fighters look ordinary, you realize that he's special.I just think it is pretty clear that he got it done, because he had a good bit of help.

Not because he looks special doing it, but because he causes otherwise special fighters to fold. His mental presence in the ring is truly top tier, although athletically his abilities have always been limited other than having a great gas tank. Just because he doesn't look like he's doing much doesn't make him not skilled. It takes skills to make skilled fighters look regular in there.
Think Bernard Hopkins on steroids...or just a more advanced and overall just better version of Hopkins with more dimensions and speed.Comment

As I said earlier, what is his best non-controversial win besides the Froch win?Comment
