How come Pacquiao was able to surpass Floyd's longevity?

For years Floyd and his fans bragged about how much longevity he had, how little punishment he took, etc etc.

Yet Pacquiao took way more punishment, was way more entertaining, and still managed to stay champion into his 40s.

How was he able to do it?

I believe Floyd could still be on the top of the boxing world if he wanted to be. Fact is he stepped aside and still makes millions. He has everlasting longevity because this conversation about Floyd and/or Pac is still consistently being had.

Well you can’t actually make a comparison because one retired and one didn’t.

Floyd went out on top, so there’s nothing to say he couldn’t have stayed on top for a couple of years if he had stayed active. He’s a couple of years older than Manny too.

Floyd wasn’t having life and death fights with guys like Jeff Horn.

He makes less money than Floyd means he got to work for longer.

Floyd was his own man and retired ****** rich at a relatively young age so he didn't HAVE to keep fighting. Pac is an uneducated peasant who was continuously ****d financially by promoters and the IRS so he HAS to keep fighting.

              Everyone’s different. Everyone ages different.

Floyd had a long career at the top level.

              So has Pacquaio even longer.

              It’s neither here nor there.

If a boxer starts at 16, wins titles at 19 and for example is still competing at 50 years old, it is a reflection of greatness.

It is either here or there. Someone who does things at highest level for longer is greater. Anyone who does things for shorter duration there's more element of luck involved you've just not be found out. The longer you do things more chance to be found out.

Otherwise what reason would there be for old men to box in a young man's sport you'd be on a hiding to nothing you can get hurt. It's not child's play.

Because Floyd didn't let the sport retire him, it's happened to so many great fighters, not just in boxing but also in every other sport. Like one of the posters above me said, he retired on top and it's rare for great athletes to do that because they don't know when to stop

He simply chooses to still do it. Floyd could too I'm sure but he opts not to. Both men kept themselves in peak physical form all their lives so at this point it is just a matter of will
