Comments Thread For: Canelo Sees Another 6-7 Years Left in Career, Rules Out Foes at 175

Roy Jones knew this because of Canelo's SKILL compared to those guys.
You can say Fielding was a bum - Canelo had to go UP to meet Fielding at 168, a class he hadn't fought at yet. That's a significant accomplishment that very few fighters seem inclined to do these days. Go UP to fight the champion.
Fielding, on the flip, only officially lost to one guy before that - Callum Smith, who would go on to knock out George Groves and become lineal champion.
The same George Groves who everyone here overrates because he schooled Eubank - despite taking an L by a green Badou Jack years prior.
"Who did you beat, and who did that guy beat?"
That's what we're talking about.
If George Groves is this ATG fighter like people say he is/was, that means Callum Smith has a signature win. That means Fielding lost to a top guy. That means Canelo beat one guy who had only ever lost to a guy who was undefeated and lineal, and another guy that lost to said guy. Top in terms of achievements.
Like I said before, I can go down the list of Canelo's opposition and easily debunk this notion of cherry picking. It's just that NSB doesn't like these guys, likely because they're Brits, and they just like Golovkin who was the Bum Feaster Extraordinaire before Berlanga - and they want someone to beat Canelo. Just like they wanted people to beat Floyd, just like they want people to beat Spence.
It's no longer about celebrating guys taking on champion-level opposition, it's "you're not fighting who (*I*) think would beat you!"Comment

Garcia/Matthysse was the the vacant lineal title at 140First of all, you forgot that Danny Swift BEAT Khan for lineal (the highest you can do).
Crawford's lineal titles were VACANT when he won them (Postol and Beltran).
You get more credit for BEATING the man than you do when you're told you're the man because nobody else is.
Danny Swift dealt with tougher competition at 140 than Crawford had to.
Second, Spence beat FOUR Top 5 welterweights.
Danny Swift has always been Top 5 since his fight with Keef. He declined only AFTER Spence washed him for 8 rounds, fresh off a major car wreck.
Brook was Top 5 when Spence stopped him ON HIS OWN TURF AND TERMS and took the IBF. Crawford refused to fight Horn in Australia and had to fake a hand injury to delay the fight and throw off Horn's camp.
Mikey Garcia was Top 5 (shouldn't have been, but he was and even now is #2 on WBC as I reported a week or so ago) when Spence pitched a shutout.
Shawn Porter is always Top 5. Spence got the W.
You can even do Top 10 and Algieri, Peterson and Ocampo were on the list when Spence stopped them. Ocampo is right back in the Top 10.
It's like some of you just look for strawman arguments and refuse to accept the facts in front of you because YOU don't like them.
Facts don't care about your feelings.
Garcia/Khan was for the vacant RING title
But I agree Garcia had a relatively good run at 140 even despite the close calls he hadComment

you arguing and dont even know what you're talking about. Garcia won the *vacant* lineal title after beating Matthysse. I'm not arguing about his 140 resume (even though he was gifted decisions vs Herrera and Peterson).. He has beat *nobody* worth mentioning at welterweight. that is not a strawman. The other Garcia was not ranked top 5 in Ring or TBRB. The belt organization rankings do not matter lol. They put people wherever the hell the feel like to move along their agenda.
Nobody is saying Spence isn't number one in the division. He deserves it. He's bull****ting to get around facing who everybody else thinks might be the best in the division, and you clown fans are giving him a pass.Comment

I've said this before - and I won't repeat again.
Whoever holds The Ring championship is widely considered lineal champion.
TBRB went political and split off from The Ring years ago - but TBRB does not issue lineal and haven't for years - they simply rate fighters above #1, often improperly (it should be that whoever wins between #1 and #2 gets to be the top dog, but in many cases they skip steps and just gift it to whoever they like and disregard who they don't. They just got done disregarding WBA because they stripped Manny, which basically gives Ugas no fair opportunity; yet they're fine with WBC who did the same thing to Keef and many other fighters because of Canelo. Hypocrites.)
Your Wikipedia research tells you what TBRB believes to be true - not what the consensus was at the time.
Think about it.
If what you're saying is true, it means that Jeff Horn became lineal champion when he beat Manny Pacquiao. Something you know to be false.
Because Horn didn't win The Ring.
Because Manny didn't hold it.
SO while certain orgs looked at Manny as lineal after the third Bradley fight, the fact is he really wasn't.
When people look at whoever holds The Ring (most recently Teofimo), that guy is widely accepted as lineal champion.
Danny 'Swift' Garcia sparked Amir Khan's chin to unify WBC, WBA and The Ring.
Considered lineal champion.Comment

So Canelo received a 6 month ban for what . . . . ?!
And no Vada 24/7/365.
And short notice contracts so the contracted random testing protocols are for minimal time.
Canelo is definitely suspect imo.
But you got yours and that's fine too. Thanks.Comment
