More Skilled Ali or Roy

The "rope a dope "improvisation, prominently featured.because of the massive story behind it, was far more interesting to ME than to echo your accurate description of Ali. I assume that I am at liberty to comment on whatever part of an accompanying post I wish. I chose that part. You've missed the entire point my friend. We were talking about who was the more skilled; Ali or Jones not the Rumble in the Jungle bout with George Foreman.
I said Ali because he was aging and could no longer rely on his youth and athleticism to win fights. He was a master at conserving his energy later in his career because he was older, heavier and had lost a lot of his stamina and hand to eye coordination.
Which was the reason why he threw fewer punches and moved around the ring with his feet less and also was why he was as equally successful in the latter half of his career as he was in the first half of his career due to his ring IQ and wisdom.
All you said about Ali was quite acurate and there was no need for me to praise your precise and concise opinion. I dislike being a "yes man" so wrote about what I considered more interesting, and about what very many readers know nothing about.
So, contrary to your accusation , I missed nothing, I just chose to write about one of Ali's incidences of his alleged high boxing IQ, specifically the story behind it.
I hope this answers your concern.Comment

They both shared great reflexes which was the key to their success. Each of them were technically flawed, they fought with their hands at their sides, leaned back from punches, moved back in a straight line.
Ali had a great chin, but he was also fast for a such a large HW of his era. He shined against either much smaller and/or slower opponents. Got a few gifts along the way. Showed tremendous heart and durability. But, had he been fighting in lighter weight classes with skillset, I don't think his success would have carried over into the smaller divisions where he would be more evenly matched.
Roy had the best reflexes of any fighter I've ever seen. But he couldn't adapt as his reflexes slowed down and he didn't have the chin that Ali had to compensate for that loss of reflexes. At his best I'd match him against anyone in a 50/50 fight from 160 - 175. I give the edge to Roy.Comment

I would say Ali because for a HW his handspeed and footwork and headmovement was on another level but RJJ was a freak in his primeComment
