Y'all dudes be making some misleading aśs threads on here.Liam.. lol. I just hope people give Andrade all the credit in the world once Andrade beats him cause I'm seeing an awful lot of "I'm not sure who the winner will be" comments before the fight. I just hope the consistency is there.Of course. Andrade has obviously just been waiting for Canelo to get that WBO belt so he can cash in his payday. He better hope he doesn't have to fight Liam Williams before that though, or he may lose the opportunity. I also wonder if Canelo would vacate the belt and come back for it later and when that mandatory would be ordered by the WBO anyways.
Vacate the belt & trying to come back later would be so lame. Like real corny shìt.Comment

As far as I'm aware the right to actually demand mandatory status in adjacent divisions only applies to WBO 'super' champions (like Usyk or Bud) although I believe they'll tend to grant World champions a high ranking and probably smooth their path if they go looking for it.The WBO has a rule that the WBO champion in a weight class can move up or down a weight class and become the immediate mandatory for the belt holder in that weight class.
Of course, but the only fight I can force is the WBO 168...Which I may do the morning after @canelo beats @bjsaunders_ https://t.co/4fxbfuqx9c

Section 14(2) ELIGIBILITY TO BE CONSIDERED FOR DESIGNATION AS THE MANDATORY CHALLENGER IN HIGHER OR LOWER DIVISION.
If requested by a Super Champion, the Championship Committee may designate
the Super Champion as the mandatory challenger for the higher or lower division.
(3) ELIGIBILITY TO BE CONSIDERED FOR DESIGNATION AS THE MANDATORY CHALLENGER IN SAME DIVISION.
If requested by a Super Champion who has lost his title and who wishes to fight
for the title again, the Championship Committee may designate the Super
Champion as the mandatory challenger in the Super Champion’s division.
That said I'd imagine the WBO may look favourably on such a request on the grounds of the sanctioning fees it'd be worth to em but on the other hand Varcarcel seems nearly as eager to drop his pants for Canelo as Mauricio does, so if push comes to shove I'm guessing he won't strip the Ginger one... probably demand BooBoo fights Parker (WBO #1) first or somesuch. Though, mmm, I wouldn't mind BooBoo vs Jacobs (#2) if they went that routeLast edited by Citizen Koba; 02-03-2021, 10:25 AM.Comment

Williams is not a risk. It's your basic mandatory vs champion fight. Don't get me wrong I do think it's a good fight but nothing more.
Dropping the belt is a big risk. No guarantee he'd get the winner of Canelo vs BJSComment

Let’s clarify the situation. First, Hearn and Oscar messed up DAZN business so much with colluding a GGG fight and then having Canelo get stripped by the IBF meant what was the point of fighting for the WBO when they could get a chance to fight Kovalev for a 175 strap. They even messed with Alvarez’s pay.
Remember that Canelo was outlined two things at DAZN even before COVID; 1.) premium pay $34mil, 2.) non premier fight pay $17mil (Fielding), and then verbiage during pandemic or cuts on top of those guidelines.
So, if Canelo beats BJS, it’s one last belt for the IBF. If he becomes Undisputed the debate will be if Canelo chooses to do an Undisputed defense. Think about all the guys in line at 168 plus the guys at 160 might immediately move up. That’s four orgs in the running. It’s a really complicated mess. Therefore with all those variables, which surely Andrade can see, this could all be an excuse to not lose to Willliams anyways. Best to move up. Hard to sayComment

Looking at the WBO site there isn't a super champion anywhere on there. This is the same rule Usyk used before he was paid off to step aside. I don't recall him being anything more than championAs far as I'm aware the right to actually demand mandatory status in adjacent divisions only applies to WBO 'super' champions, although I believe they'll tend to grant World champions a high ranking and probably smooth their path if they go looking for it.

On the Monday after Ruiz’s shock win over Joshua to claim the title, Usyk’s legal team requested that the WBO make him the heavyweight mandatory challenger – owing to his ‘super champion’ status at cruiserweight.
This is because it is one of the sanctioning body’s rules that, if a ‘super champion’ moves up or down a division, they are entitled to become the immediate mandatory challenger – as was seen for Terence Crawford against Jeff Horn last year.
He was elevated after he announced his intention to move up if I recall right. Bud used it to challenge Horn too. They are few and far between though.
Point being if I'm Boo Boo I wouldn't count on being able to force the issue. Hell, even if he was Super Champ I would expect Varcarcel to take Canelo's side if he didn't want the fight.
EDIT: Hmmm. It also looks like Varcarcel is calling Canelo a 'Super' Champion with extra leeway to choose the fights he wants.
https://www.beinsports.com/us/boxing...itle-2/1371864The 29-year-old retains his status and privileges as a WBO Super Champion, including being the designated mandatory challenger to the WBO champion in any division.
So pretty much the same as the franchise bullchit. These dudes are fighting over who's first to get to his zipper...
