It's funny when you think about it, 31 is the pivot point for a boxer's prime for many guys. The guys you mentioned were well past it at 31. Two other additions that began their slide at 31: DeLahoy and Sugar Ray Leonard.

31 is prime for an athlete who takes his craft seriously. For example Hopkins, Wlad Klitschko, JMM, Pacquiao, Mayweather, Canelo (soon to be), GGG, Mosley. And treats his body well and does not abuse alcohol.

31 is also relatively young for a person, but for the average athlete that’s not young. There are exceptions though, like some of the fighters I mentioned.

Broner doesn’t take boxing seriously enough to be prime at 31.
