Ugas vs Thurman for WBA belt.

Wouldn't it make sense for Ugas to fight Thurman for the WBA belt? Thurman lost the belt to Pacquiao by SD. It was close enough that a rematch would make sense unless Pacquiao wanted to unify against Spence or Crawford.

Thurman and Ugas had expressed interest in fighting recently. I would prefer to see the winner of Thurman-Ugas fight Spence rather than have Ugas fight Spence next.

Ugas isn't getting any younger and he deserved the win against Porter in the first place, who lost the belt in a close fight to Spence. Ugas should go straight for the unification if he can. If he can't get Spence (or Crawford) then a fight against the likes of Thurman or Porter would be acceptable.

Thurman probably deserves it. But not before Spence.

Do Spence first, if Spence wins he fights Crawford, if Ugas wins he gives Keef a shot and that winner fights Crawford.

No the whole point of dethroning Pacquiao was to get that belt to Spence as quickly as possible without giving it directly to him.

The WBA seem to make PBC friendly based decisions all the time.

The WBA always elevates the regular champion to super champion (for the most part) when the super champion is stripped. Erislandy Lara, GGG, and even Keith Thurman himself were elevated to super champion.

Keith Thurman was not elevated to Super Champion, he was elevated from Regular champion to simply WBA Champion. He became Super Champion when he beat WBC Champion Danny Garcia in a unification.

            Thurman's path went
            1. WBA (Interim) Champion
            2. WBA (Regular) Champion
            3. WBA Champion
            4. WBA (Super) Champion

Golovkin had the same path. He went Interim, then Regular, then WBA, then Super. But he was elevated from WBA to Super after 5 successful WBA defenses rather than via unification.

But instead of elevating Ugas to WBA Champion, they elevated him straight to Super Champion which implies they will quickly seek to fill the (Regular) slot again with another bogus fight.

I understand why Ugas may deserve the promotion, but just like Porter and Danny Garcia had to fight for the belt that Thurman vacated, I think it would make more sense to have Ugas fight the former WBA champ whose only loss was a competitive split decision against the current champion "in recess" Pacquiao.:

It feels like they're skipping a step just so they can give Spence the title without just giving it to him. Thurman vs Ugas would be a legitimate and likely competitive fight, then the winner vs Spence would be a legitimate unification. Spence-Ugas seems like it would barely be a real unification because Ugas was just given the belt after Pac and Thurman just had a close fight for it.

Regular champion and champion aren't the same thing?

Would be a good fight. I got Thurman winning that one, too many people have written Thurman off because of one loss

No. That makes zero sense. If you're making the point Ugas should fight for the belt then Jamal James, the interim champ, would make sense. Not the guy who just lost the belt and hasn't fought since
