I didn't even know he lost until you made this thread
Curious: Why did NSB turn its back on Wanheng Menayothin?

It's true that he didn't fight who he should have fought (3K Battery). But he beat some very good fighters (at that class), two of which I didn't expect him to beat. Leroy Estrada I definitely didn't expect him to beat.****** thread. Why do you think? He lost. They never really cared about him, only that he was undefeated and had more wins than Floyd. Not like he fought the best opponents he could or tried to unify his division. He was happy to defend his title against little Thai midgets for eternity until the wrong mandatory came along or whatever happened.
One close loss = bum hype job?Comment

There's no such thing as a close loss. He got exposed. He's one dimensional. A fraud. A fake. A bum. A hype job. A media creation. He stepped up and got beat. Finally stopped fighting tomato cans...
I can't think of any more right now

Lost in November.
And at the time I said:
Let's be fair. Menaoythin is actually a very good fighter for the weight class.
But Pradabsri is what you'd get if Rigondeaux actually threw combinations. He's got the Manny Pacquiao calves thing going on and he actually throws with power. Which is a bad style matchup for Menaoythin who relies on outworking his opponent.
I'm not surprised by the outcome at all. In fact I thought Leroy Estrada would have bumped him off (50th fight), but in hindsight, Estrada was just too small.
But, Menayothin lost RAZOR close to a guy who was ranked #3 by the WBC. There is no shame whatsoever in that loss.
It was a good fight and it showed me that he's better than his resume indicates.Comment

I've never heard of the guy, bro. I used to watch a lot of the more obscure/international fighters but haven't stayed up on it. The end of Ken Hershman era Showtime left a big gap in terms of solid foreign guys getting TV time here.Come on, don't do that.
The guy that went 54-0 before taking a loss. ONE loss.
He's actually a very good fighter.
What I'm calling out is, on a boxing forum, instead of talking about him as a very good fighter who arguably even now is the best at his class (minimumweight) in a very long time (for what that's worth), people just propped him up to spite Floyd, but once he took ONE loss they ignore him because he no longer suits the narrative.
That one loss doesn't make him any less of a good fighter at his class. Even that loss was a close one that could have gone either way.Comment

I don't read every thread that gets posted here. I like Thai fighters, but I've never heard of the guy.Comment

Ok.
Well all I can tell you is that threads about him literally dominated NSB page 1 when he hit 51-0 and continued so for at least a week.
Then when he 'retired' (54-0), it happened again.Comment
