Apparently that cannot happen in a mandatory situation :rofl .... Only the champ should make an offer. The mandatory can’t/shouldn’t... Or best yet, let’s not talk about that.
I mean Hearn/Matchroom payday Charles Martin good money and they brought him over from his promoters, network, from his own country... and that wasn’t a mandatory fight.
If I was Haymon and am as powerful as I am, I wouldn’t make a play for this fight and bring it over to my side. I would invest in my boxer.Comment

Porter doesn't even really want that belt. None of them do.Maybe negotiating is counterproductive? I remember where I heard that before.
It’s a mandatory fight, take it to purse bid, get the WBO to respect your profile as a boxer and asked for more than 25% of the purse.
Get Haymon to win the purse bid, Bud would have to drop the belt if he had to.
They just want to beat Crawford while getting a fair check.
This is why Arum made a HUGE mistake paying the ghost of Amir Khan $7 million. Because now that's the bar.
IF a guy unranked at the time that was almost killed by Canelo deserves $7 million, how do you NOT justify paying AT LEAST that for a PPV with Porter?
Arum doesn't want to do it because he's afraid it might tank.
He's afraid it might tank because Crawford/Khan tanked.
Which is why he should never have done that damn fight in the first place. But...
Crawford/Khan tanked because of Crawford. Period. They saw this guy being hyped, only to get jabbed in the face and frustrated to the point of tossing a low blow against a guy they heard had a glass chin.
You put Crawford in there against Shawn Porter who is fresh off headlining against the top guy and who does draw fans because he has so many connections with celebrities and the networks, that PPV will sell tickets. Probably more than Spence/Porter simply because it's a different dynamic.
Crawford/Porter's story is, Crawford will FINALLY be tested against a guy nobody has had an easy night against. That sells itself.
If I were Crawford, I would be like Floyd was to Ellerbe and say, "make the damn fight, give him what he wants". But unfortunately, you got BoMac in his ear telling him he doesn't need the fight. Ok - so sit over there in the desert then.Comment

Crawford is not a big seller, Arum has tried with Khan (Didnt work), with Brook (Didnt work).... And Khan at the time was pre Covid, and he had a name sort of.Porter doesn't even really want that belt. None of them do.

So cannot blame him for not wanting to burn more money for a porter fight, to be honest porter isn’t that much a big name amongst casuals. So even that is a tough sell in this pandemic.Comment

No, that's a straight up excuse when you got Arum out there yelling that Fury/Joshua will see each guy make $100 million.Crawford is not a big seller, Arum has tried with Khan (Didnt work), with Brook (Didnt work).... And Khan at the time was pre Covid, and he had a name sort of.

The money is there. He doesn't want to spend it.
Fine - but then don't allow Crawford to sit there screaming about being ducked. The truth is, now three guys from PBC have offered to step up for the fight. If it's PPV it doesn't matter about pandemic, it's going to sell big if Porter is on it.
I think many of you guys really don't understand Porter's regional appeal. People in Vegas and Texas know exactly who he is and dial in for every fight he's had. If the fight's booked in Texas you can do live fans and I promise you it sells out BECAUSE they just got through seeing Porter give Spence all he can handle.
Timing is everything though. They have to act quick while that performance is still fresh on people's minds.Comment

bud is exclusive to espn. and lol @ the geniuses who think either side would ever allow this to go to purse bid which would give porter a 25% cut or give tr a serious issue with their network.Comment

Porter turned down the chance to beat Crawford for $1 million. So can we move on now?
I'd rather see them focused on something else now. This is not a sport. This is a circus where clowns compete how they make more money than the other.Comment

Yeah, there's nothing much to discuss here now.Comment

In the end when all is said and done and fight didn't materialize,This sport has become a huge joke.
$1 million for a chance to expose a so-called hypejob and win a belt is not enough. Most athletes would love to play in their sport just to be famous and have legacy.
Even fans of this sport have become mere cult members of this sorry joke of a sport. Their main goal is not to see a fight, rather than help make it happen. What a terrible joke we're in.
I'd like to see Arum not to give in to this terrible situation.
people will say Porter turned down the opportunity to beat the best
for $1 million, which is still not something to sneeze at.
They will not say Arum blocked the fight and all, which is entirely irrelevant
in any sport where competing is the only thing that matters.Comment
