I've been rewatching Haney vs Gamboa & heres my assessment:

Haney needs to stop trying to fight like Floyd & would do much better as an orthodox fighter who sometimes employs shoulder roll but not always.

I think Haney is a different type of fighter to these up & coming prodigies like Teo & Ortiz,he is the type of fighter that is still far more green & raw than they are & needs a few more yrs than they do(partly because he lacks power at lw at least) & needs to mature a couple more years before hes ready for the elite(I don't think he beats Teo anytime soon,I think he loses by either stoppage or by 1 sided schooling depending on what Teo shows up)

I know why Ryan wants no parts of him though,& its because he'd rather fight Tank for more money,whos smaller & his style better suits him,he doesn't want to go 12 rds with Haney Because he might lose on pts if he doesn't land his money shot often enough which Haney will take more of to ko than Luke did.

So overall Teo should just beat him next & make an easy payday & he can even bet on himself & double up easy money imho.

Teofimo either has to come out and say "I never asked for $10 Million," or he has to make $10 Million fighting Kambosos! I don't understand something, if Haney is so feather-fisted, why is everyone so afraid to fight him? Loma went for Teo, Teo is going for Kambosos, Garcia is in the same weight class, and same network, but he don't want it, and Tank is not even fighting LWs yet! Maybe they know something we don't?

And who cares about “undisputed” anyway. Devin had a paper title that he didn’t win in the ring. The only former champion Haney has EVER faced is a 40 year old Yuriorkis Gamboa in his last fight. Haney is the definition of a paper champion. He’s never faced a current champ, and he’s never even faced a guy that will one day before a world champ.

Anyone who recognizes a guy who’s never fought ANYBODY decent in his career, who received a title as a gift to pacify why real fights got made, as a legit world champion, instead of a fighter who has faced 3 (going on 4) top 10 lightweights in his first 17 fights is paying wayyyyyy too much attention to “titles” and not enough attention to championships.

I’m just using common sense here. I could see if Devin actually fought some decent guys before. This guy is a champion by title only, and has done nothing inside the ring to deserve that designation. People are making a much bigger deal of this fight than it deserves. The only reason this fight is being talked about is because Haney holds a paper title, which the WBC themselves say is secondary. Some fans say he’s undisputed. Some don’t. It is what it is. I’d rather see him fight Tank than Haney.

Teofimo needs to realize that not even Loma made $10 million in his last fight. Neither did Crawford when he fought Kell Brook. So he's gotta slow it down. Understand where the global economy is.
