    That's about 5-10 more fights.

Is this because of saying he will retire in 5 years? Canelo has been saying the same thing for years now. He plans to retire at age 35. Loma has said the same thing for years now. He plans to not fight too long after he hits 32.

Aside from Loma, Joshua and Canelo have made more than enough money to retire comfortably and as long as they do not pull a Hollyfield they should be fine and not need to fight until they are 40. Boxing has always been about making money regardless what anyone says. 99% of the fighters who ever boxed professionally have done so for the money.

He could fight till 40 as he will still be good at 40 like wlad.
But if he's fought and beat everyone no need to fight past 35. But need to see who's around at that time

@ posters trashing AJ for saying he'll retire @ 36 years of age. It's a tough business, trying to knock somebody's head off with them trying to do the same thing to you. Hopefully by then, he will have proven himself to be the best HW in the world, or not. We already know he'll be rich. If he's ready to get out by then, let him enjoy his life with his faculties intact.

If he wins it he'll fight the likes of Usyk, maybe Dillian again, maybe Wilder if he's still around and relevant.

If it's 1-1 there will be a third fight

If he loses 2-0, I don't expect him to hang around much longer

In any scenario I can't imagine 5 years and what 7 or 8 more fights
I don't think AJ is gonna be done if he loses to Fury twice. Hell that's one of those 5 years. This year's Fury fights is 20% of the plan. Not much further to go from there.

I imagine if he loses to Fury he's in get back mode with trilogy fights with Whyte &/or Ruiz. Avenging the amateur L & confirming the shaky W vs Whyte. And then showing again the Ruiz KO loss wasn't a fluke again. Maybe even a bs fight before fighting either of these two. That's another year or 18 months.

If he wins those fights he's back in title fight mode. And still being a cash cow cuz he's not gonna lose THAT much popularity whatever happens this soon in the game. Maybe he wins a strap after Fury retires again or gets stripped of a belt. Gets a ez title defense or two. And we are damn near til the end of his 5 year plan already.

And if he beats Fury or splits the two fights with him it'll be even easier to keep interest & money rolling in with bs/less risky fights to max out at 5yrs.

That said I'm still riding with the over on his career not lasting past 2025. This mfer will be fighting the 2030 version of Logan Paul on some popular hologram app all the kids are using.

Canelo has been boxing professionally for about 15 years or so. If he retires in 5 years that will mean a 20-year career with around 70 or more fights.

It's hardly the same thing as Joshua.

If Josh isn't considered the greatest at 35, he should perhaps wait until a great fighter comes along and as underdog beats them.
Then he can retire. Needs to retire as underdog

If Joshua fights 2 times a year for the next 5 years that's 10 fights.

So he will end up with 35 total.

3 fights a year for 5 years will give him 15. Which would be 40 in total for his career.

                    Not exactly legendary numbers.

Technically true but you and I both know that the first 5 years of his "Professional" career was mostly tomato cans down in Mexico. Joshua was fighting in the amateurs for a while too before he turned pro. I am not arguing that Joshua has fought as long as Canelo.

I am trying to find out why you think Joshua has one foot out the door and no longer has the same drive as before. Retiring at 35 is perfectly fine for me for either fighter. Canelo has more competitive fights in his future while Joshua may only have truthfully a handful.
