    Someone educate me on Hagler

I don't disrespect boxers who have obviously contributed greatly to boxing history. I want to learn about Hagler's best fights/opponents. But just off skimming his resume, he beat Duran who was a lightweight, Hearns who has a welterweight, and definitely lost to SRL imo...

What are the defining fights for Hagler so I can check them out? Thanks!

Hagler vs Mugabi is a must. And yes, Mugabi was a former junior middleweight. But it's a war for the ages. It preceded Hagler vs Leonard - and it shows why Marvelous was not the same in that one.

Read this book Four Kings, it's awesome and gives context to why all of these guys were so great.

            Beat...

Alan Minter- Lineal Middleweight champion on away soil.

Vito Antufermo- Former Lineal Middleweight champion.

Roberto Duran- 4 weight champ, first ballot HOF’er.

Thomas Hearns- 5 Weight champ, first ballot HOF’er.

Then also Mugabi, Obelmejias who both went on to win world titles after losing to Hagler.

Hamsho was also a good fighter upset both Minter and Wilfred Benitez. Hagler stopped him twice.

Honestly though man, if you wanna educate yourself on Hagler the best thing to do is to go back and watch his fights.

The man was at what? 60+ fights before he got his first superfight? Most guys are already shot by 30-40 fights average.

Just calling Duran a lightweight, and Hearns a welterweight, is totally underestimating both those guys legacies.

Anyways, plenty of his fights are on Youtube. You can start anywhere and work your way up to Srl.

As mentioned above, a lot fighters that he beat (hearns, Duran, obelmejias, and mugabi) won championships after he fought them. Minter and antufermo were each lineal champs before Hagler beat them too. The Leonard fight could have gone either way and we know how great he was too.
