I get what you're saying but that's easier said than done. Especially since Roy wouldn't even need to leap in. He would probably pot shot and force Canelo to be the aggressor.

I base Canelo’s effectiveness on who Roy fought. I don’t focus on how Roy hit

Canelo was SLOWER against Floyd and Lara and Khan

RJJ aint no Khan and RJJ is the bigger man.

RJJ beats Canelo bc he had SPEED and POWER. No chance Canelo gets stopped but I see a 9-3 type decision where RJJ takes a few rounds off. Canelo wouldve landed some good counters and RJJ would've realized it was easy to fight "small" and potshot
I think Jones wins and so do you so you agree with me on that. As for the the lack of knock downs of GGG, Smith and Jacobs not meaning anything I think they do mean something. If he failed to knock down any of these men why would he KO Jones who was bigger, stronger and faster than any of them and that is my point.

Everyone here knows I'm not the biggest Roy Jones fan, but this thread was created by a dumb ass nigga...

This man took one sequence from his fight against another man, who doesn't even fight like Canelo, and determined that as the reason why Canelo would beat Jones.

You were better off trying to make the argument without the .gif, dumb hoe.

One thing is for sure! Canelo is the HNIC! Great chance of sparking out Roy! And Roy was a boss! But Roy don’t know what it feels like to get hit by a Dwarf from LOTR!

Roy routed a great fighter in James Toney, who was very good at slipping and countering like Canelo is.

Canelo struggled against fleet-footed fighters in Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Erislandy Lara. Roy is fleet-footed with more power than those two.

I get that Canelo is better than a lot of Roy's opponents, however Roy is more similar to the guys Canelo struggled against than the guys he's been destroying lately.

You’re not taking into account a Prime Canelo. Isn’t that the context? You think the Andre Ward that beat Darnell Boone would beat Kovalev? Different size, different experience

I understand that, and yes Canelo is better now than he was then, however he wasn't green like Ward was against Boone either.

With that said, Canelo hasn't been in with that type of fighter since. He's been destroying bigger guys who can't handle his level of coordination. Roy is a bigger guy who could handle it based on how he handled a highly coordinated, slippery counterpuncher in James Toney.

I like Canelo a lot, however I would need to see him dominate someone like Caleb Plant before revisiting my view of this matchup.
