Canelo is a very calculated counter attacker. A guy like Toney could read it too...

In Roy's prime, Canelo would lose almost every round similar to what happened against Floyd (where he lost almost every minute of every round) only Roy hits much much harder .

Punching harder means nothing if you can’t land. Difference between Toney and Canelo is that Alvarez would take more chances countering. Also RJJ never got hit to the body from a guy like Canelo.

Jones beat Toney by a mile. The prime Roy Jones was an all time great fighter. Canelo is a great fighter but he did not knock down GGG, Jacobs or Callum Smith.

James Toney is superior to Canelo in almost every facet of boxing. His ring IQ is off the charts.

Do you think Canelo would beat any 160,168 or 175 pound boxer in history? It sure seems like you do. Was there any great fighter of the past you think would beat Canelo and if so what is his name?

I don't think I'd pick anyone against prime RJJ from 160-175. RJJ's stick and move style would be a nightmare for Canelo.

Great post.... I'm no huge Canelo fan but I will say the dude is bada$$ but to say he would knockout or even beat a prime RJJ is by far a fantasy. RJJ is one of the best to ever lace up and Canelo's lack of knockout against people like you mentioned speaks volumes about what an ATG would do to him.
