Canelo would have to stalk him and try to walk him down, he wont win trying to counter or box him on the outside.

watch the hopkins fight, hopkins still won maybe 4 rounds at a time when Roy almost never dropped rounds, he won them by pressing roy into the ropes. Someone like hagler would do well with prime roy. Someone like holyfield if they were the same size would would do well vs Roy in a head to head.Thats really canelo's only hope but his feet are slow so IDK think he wins but he would win the most rounds with that strategy, compared to trying to time and counter roy he would loose every round in a shut out like he did with floyd, he can usually do it because he usually has faster hands than his opponent, but against a guy with faster hands and a longer reach he is a sitting duck. Roy got the speed and power to keep him cautious too for the walk down strategy.

Sure, but at 152 Floyd was pushed off his feet when Canelo countered on a clinch. That’s a thin and frail Canelo with no power like in his prime at 168. RJJ was a blessing to watch, but that era was suspect... and his opponents from 160-168 weren’t as good as Canelo is now. I find Roy too optimistic with offensive, amazing risk taker, but an A+ level of Prince Hamed in taking risks whereas Hamed was a C+ at best.

Roy was always a big fan of Canelo starting from the Hatton fight. Said he saw things that Roy did. Remember that commentary? Roy was a boss, but i have my opinions too.

We never agree and those KDs dont matter BUT what does matter is Canelo was the FASTER fighter in those fights.

Canelo was FASTER or EQUALLY FAST against Cotto, GGG, Jacobs, Smith, Kovalev, etc

Canelo was SLOWER against Floyd and Lara and Khan

RJJ aint no Khan and RJJ is the bigger man.

RJJ beats Canelo bc he had SPEED and POWER. No chance Canelo gets stopped but I see a 9-3 type decision where RJJ takes a few rounds off. Canelo wouldve landed some good counters and RJJ would've realized it was easy to fight "small" and potshot

But Canelo at 155 against Khan is not Canelo power at 168.

Canelo stops Roy. Just gotta hook up Canelo with the Ripped Fuel too and use the DeLorian when no VADA testing existed or random testing existed... to be on the even playing field up in this hoe!
Just because a poster does not agree with you that Canelo would KO a prime Roy Jones that does not make them a Canelo hater. You may be the only poster on this board who thinks Canelo would KO the prime Roy Jones. Everybody else thinks otherwise. You are the lone ranger on this one.

Canelo vs RJJ at 168 would be a great fight! I don’t think Roy would do the things he normally does when he feels Canelo’s power.

That's about the only significant shot Toney landed too. The rest of the fight is more indicative of how a RJJ-Canelo fight would play out.

Roy would have the height, reach, handspeed and footspeed advantage against Canelo. Floyd and Lara already showed how mobility can trouble Canelo and Roy has lethal power of his own to go with it.

None of that is meant to discredit Canelo either. I just think he does better against bigger guys who can't match his coordination.

Canelo hits very hard at 168 but he could not catch up with and KO Callum Smith even though he easily won every round and Jones is about 10 times better than Callum Smith. Your arguments for a Canelo KO win are extremely weak. Jones was an all time great who dominated 160,168 and 175 for many years without being hurt or knocked down until Tarver beat him. The prime Jones was not old Kovalev or Rocky Fielding.
