Why Would GGG Pick Mungia Over Andrade

Because Munguia is Mexican and it would be on a Mexican holiday. Andrade doesnt get him closer to Canelo nor does it make sense financially in addition to it being a harder fight. Not that GGG is not favored because he is, it’s just GGG’s fanbase would rather see him in vs Munguia and the implications of what could happen after.
And if we’re honest, truly honest, most of us would too. It’s just a more fan friendly fight. This is the type of fight you invite people over for.
There’s also the angle of if GGG beats Munguia on a holiday, Canelo could be looked at to avenge his country. Without getting a 168 title, the best way to get Canelo in the ring is for Mexico to ask it of him.
He’ll also be that little bit older...more appealing for Canelo.
If Munguia wins, you’ve got a potential trilogy to round out GGG’s career.
GGG at his age isnt trying to leverage one last big fight or two off an ugly decision win.Comment

Just a fitting example...
Canelo hasn’t shamefully ducked anyone has he?
He fought GGG eventually, he avoided him for a while but you can’t say he ducked him when he fought him twice.Comment

How is GGG ducking when he fought much tougher opponents in Canelo 2x (it was Canelo who avoided those fights and hid out at 155 claiming he wasn't a full MW), Jacobs and D-Chenko. All more dangerous opponents than Andrade. It was Andrade who ducked Jermell twice, and Lara three times at 154lbs. It was also Andrade who ducked Derevyancheno once at middleweight.
But two wrongs don't make a right.
GGG is a sad pathetic, hypocrital duck who is and has been swerving Charlo and Andrade like the plague.
Andrade was just as pathetic at 154lbs and for ducking undefeated Derevyanchenko at 160lbs.Comment

thats the point...we dont know how good andrade is yet...and golovkin doesnt either...thats why when canelo said "go get a belt" he went after the guy that lost to jacobs....golovkin is like "ok well this guy couldnt beat danny and i beat danny so yeah lets do that"...instead of going for andrade....because andrades style doesnt fit and isnt desirable for golovkin...the same way lara and wards werent....
golovkin vs andrade has made a bunch of sense and would be very easy to get done...but golovkin hasnt even explored it...instead defends an ibf belt against a #3 rated mando that wasnt even called for...for a belt he doesnt need
if golovkin isnt trying to unfiy with charlo or andrade whats he need that ibf belt for?Comment

Every guy around 160 wants to avoid tough fights while waiting for the Canelo payday. Some of them only want the Canelo fight on their terms/even terms, which may never happen anyway.
Guys today, and maybe it was always like this, will always take the more profitable/less risky fight over the more risky/less profitable fight. To constantly seek out low reward/high risk fights is just a bad strategy, which is sad in a way. It deprives us of the fights we want to see sometimes.
For me I've never really bought into the belief that Andrade, or Charlo for that matter, really wants to fight GGG. I don't think there is much interest from any of them in fighting each other. Why? They all want to keep winning easier fights, building their profile, and eventually forcing the Canelo fight. Fighting GGG is a step up in pay for them, but also a big step up in level, and if they lose, the Canelo payday could be off the table for good.
For GGG, fighting those guys is similarly a risky/low reward fight if you have other options.
For the record, I rate both Andrade and Charlo. I am not sure what GGG's level is right now. I could see anything happening in those fights.
I am not as interested in seeing those fights as I would be seeing GGG move to 168 and fight a top guy there however. Charlo and Andrade are pretty clearly really good fighters, but are still fairly unproven. As a result, if one of them steps up and loses to GGG, people will just say that guy ****** and the other one was the real one.
Taking on a high risk/medium reward fight, which could turn into low reward if after the fight people start saying the guy sucks, is just bad business unfortunately. And if you make bad business decisions you end up broke and hurt in boxing.

I also think it is pretty clearly up to DAZN as to who fights who on their roster. Look at the whole situation with Canelo. Canelo sued them to have more say in who he fights. GGG is getting paid too much by them to say no if they want him to face someone. If DAZN wanted Andrade-GGG it would happen. Why doesn't it? Because DAZN knows that is a risky fight for GGG, compared to Munguia or other options, and wants to keep building GGG in hopes of forcing GGG-Canelo 3, which is a $100 million dollar fight.Comment

difference being canelo still went and fought golovkin...2x
if golovkin avoids andrade for an easier fight and payday he wont ever fight andrade
whats golovkin doing defending an ibf belt against a mando if he wont unify with charlo or andrade?Comment

Don't you think DAZN is calling the shots though as far as who faces who on their roster? If they wanted Andrade-GGG it would happen. It doesn't happen because none of those guys really want to face each other.thats the point...we dont know how good andrade is yet...and golovkin doesnt either...thats why when canelo said "go get a belt" he went after the guy that lost to jacobs....golovkin is like "ok well this guy couldnt beat danny and i beat danny so yeah lets do that"...instead of going for andrade....because andrades style doesnt fit and isnt desirable for golovkin...the same way lara and wards werent....

DAZN wants GGG-Canelo. GGG just wants to get paid and fight whoever DAZN wants, since they are overpaying him. And Andrade wants to fight Canelo on even terms. That's how I see it.Comment
