You have to be a really good fighter to beat guys like GRJ, The Axeman, and Rigo, even if he is old and oversized.

But Linares, Campbell, Pedraza are not that good and all of those guys gave him a hard time. IDK if it's PEDs then stopping using them at 135, aging, or what, but even if they do have a big size advantage on you, those 3 should not be any trouble at all if you are truly the real deal.

I think it will be interesting to see if he does go back to 130. Time will tell if those wins actually went that good.

Loma will probably have one more fight before retirement, but it won’t affect his legacy because it won’t be against Lopez. Lomachenko will be regarded by boxing fans as an enormous talent but he will never be regarded as an all-time great on the level of a Duran or Pac. He stood to be in that discussion before the Lopez fight, but he ruined his legacy forever by fighting so timidly for most of that fight. It’s a real shame because he could’ve beaten Lopez. He had the skills but not enough dog in him to go for it.

Loma is a great fighter, but one who is in decline. I've said this numerous times; fighters in the lower weight classes age faster!
Lightweights start to decline in their early 30s, you could see it in Loma for a few fights now. Also, he has had a very long career in the amateurs and came into the pros too late. There is a lot of wear and tear on the guy.

In addition, he is a small 135, I think his best weight class is probably 126/130, and had he turned pro in his early 20s he would have fought most of his career at 126/130. Given all that, he did not do all too poorly vs Lopez. There is a bit of historical revisionism going on. While I thought he lost the fight, he won a majority of the rounds in the secondhand of the fight. He was not outclassed, just beaten by a good bigger fighter.

yeah i think u have cracked it, loma was on peds at 126 & 130 then stopped for 135 and then didn't look as good

nothing to do with stronger bigger guys giving him more problems

i don't have any sympathy for complaining tho, if u move up u have to accept the consequences but his record at 135 is good, remember he torn his labrum v linares and still took him out, thats tough to do and that injury is quite serious for a boxer

he now has a shoulder injury and if he can he should take the easier route and go 130 for a few fights, even fully fit i think he has problems at 135, win some lose some type of thing, depending on styles

Lomachenko where do we start, hes a good fighter yes but he wasnt the hype everyone (HBO/ESPN) were hype-machining him out to be and... When you fail to live up to the hype it has this sort of effect of making your accomplishment seem underwhelming. Lomachenko did great for himself but has a Lost to Salido and Lopez and Looked bad vs Pedraza prior to the stoppage, got dropped vs linares, and his 2nd best win is a blown up Rigo, he has a career of 14 wins 2 loses career and that on its face is a Okay fighters record.

Guy couldn't adjust to Lopez. Lopez prevented him from getting into a groove and fighting where Loma is most comfortable.

I wouldn't call Lomachenko finished or never good to begin with.

But clearly Lomachenko had some weaknesses in his game exposed by the bigger Lopez.

If they can get a rematch, maybe doubts could be put to rest by a Lomachenko win?

Just another Top Rank hype job. Loma was too green to beat Salido, but Lopez wasn't to green to give Loma that work.

Now, Lopez is what real champion looks like. Didn't make no excuses, didn't whine about experience or weight. Just stepped into the ring as the massive underdog and took care of business.
