If Haney isn't the champ why does he have 2 mandatory defenses?

Good for Ryan Garcia for not cherrypicking Haney. Davis has really good pop, speed, and the better resume. Beating Davis would do a lot more Garcia than beating Haney, based on resumes. With 23 belts per weight class, winning a title nowadays could mean very little. Unless you win the title from a good fighter.
If I was Garcia’s promoter though, i’d go after the weaker Devin Haney. You know the only way it lasts under 12 rounds is if you get the stoppage. Definitely won’t be Haney getting no stoppage. You have a guy who is quite possibly the weakest punching title holder in boxing right now.
Then you have Davis who has 24 wins, 23 by KO’s, no losses, and TKO wins of Leo Santa Cruz, Jose Pedraza, Yuri Gamboa, and other decent fighters like Jesus Cuellar and Liam Walsh.
The best fighters i’ve seen Haney fight have been Burgos and Gamboa and that was 24 rounds of watching Haney’s powerless decision wins over showcase fights.
I’d tell Garcia to take it slow and start with the weak punching Devin Haney. But if he wants to go after Tank, then props to him.Comment

You ask questions but refuse to answer them. I’ll answer yours when you answer mine.
So I’ll ask you again... Who has Devin Haney fought or beat to suggest he would even be competitive with Teofimo Lopez?Comment
