Who are all these slick Mayweather clones he’s avoiding?
Nobody has that style around his weight class except maybe Plant and Boo Boo. And let’s be honest, they haven’t fought anybody even close to Canelos league.
I already answered that question but you keep coming back with the same thing. There are no mayweather clones, but we already know that an elite jab, solid defense, footwork, hand speed, movement all give Canelo trouble. GGG and Kovalev are the only 2 recent opponents that had any of these things, and it was just the jab and footwork. Charlo and Andrade have that plus the speed and better movement. Not saying they win, but they present a lot more to think about than these other guys. I don't know how anyone can say with a straight face that Andrade/Charlo aren't bigger threats than Smith/Fielding/Kovalev and even GGG.
I’ll give you Andrade but Charlo (who I like) is slow and stiff, he poses little thread and has already been easily outboxed. I think you’re just trying to say he should fight black guys, just be honest and say that.

No - I would have been fine with Beterbiev or Bivol at 175, but don't go around saying you're taking the biggest risks when you're always fighting guys who looked iffy in their last fight.
Again, Canelo is def a p4p elite. And I'm not saying he'd lose to either of those 2 guys. But there are at least 5-6 guys in his weight range that I think would be legit 50-50 fights (Beterbiev, Bivol, Andrade, Charlos).
Even someone like a Jean Pascal I would have liked to have seen cuz unlike Kovalev at least the guy has heart and always comes to win. Marcus Browne, even a Joe Smith. We all know how Kovalev wilts under adversity.
I'm just tired of hearing about the myth of Canelo. He's good, he's not great. And he will never be great because he has cement feet. Canelo boxes like he has bricks taped to his ankles.
People talk about the experience differential when Canelo fought Floyd, but what really allowed Mayweather to stand in front of Canelo and dominate him was the massive difference in footwork. Floyd looked like a video game character while Canelo plodded around the ring like a handicapped troll. That's a weakness that's still there and it's costing him. Canelo really should have 4-5 losses but he's got the refs in his pockets.
I don't really disagree with any of these, but it's the idea that people are acting like he just dominated the best guy in or around his weight class that's a fraud. We all know it is. I'm not even saying Andrade or Charlo would beat Canelo, but we all know they'd put up a better fight than Canelo's recent opponents. His handlers know it too.
Oh I mean I definitely agree there - was it a good performance? Yes, he looked good.
Did John Ryder basically do the same exact thing to Smith in his last fight? Yes he did.
I completely agree with your point that we should have some more balance and nuance with how we rate certain fights/fighters/wins. We should all be able to keep it real and say 'well yes good win, but let's not forget that Ryder basically did this to Smith a year ago.'
It's not hating - it's just hard to really know how to rate some of these wins/performances. Smith was a great pick in the sense that a guy inferior to Canelo just beat him easily less than a year before this fight was announced.
Knowing that, how excited should I be about the win? I really can't answer that, to be honest.

Yup. Floyd also has an elite jab, brilliant ring IQ, elite reflexes and defense. Really all it takes is 1 or 2 of those things to be competitive with Canelo, but Floyd has it all which is why he made it look so easy.
