Yeah ok, you say that now, but he's a legit 3 division world champ, undisputed at 140, going for undisputed at 147. When has Canelo ever gone for undisputed? He hasn't cuz he didn't want Andrade or the Charlos at 160/154.
Crawford has never been in a remotely close fight. Dominated/stopped every opponent. Canelo's been in tons of code fights.Comment

I think the issue with Canelo is not so much 'who' he faces, but 'when' and sometimes 'how' he faces them. As the super A side in boxing, he has the luxury of picking the best name available to pad his resume - with the caveat that the opponent generally has to abide by the Canelo rules.
Often times the guys Canelo is taking on, are not at their peak, and/or have shown some type of recent vulnerability. That being said, he is an excellent fighter. He doesn't need too much of an edge to beat most other top guys.
I don't think he would struggle A TON vs a guy who is just slick, currently. Canelo's stalking and cutting of the ring, not to mention his power and punch selection, appear to have grown tremendously since his Mayweather fight. Even the Lara fight.
I can't think of one guy in that mold currently who would be a 'boogeyman' for him. Some guys who fit that bill, Plant BJS Andrade, could beat him over 12 rounds, I'm sure.
Jacobs took close to 6 vs him, on my card anyway. GGG took 8 in both fights. Ryder took maybe 9 against Callum, so Canelo did a little better than Ryder.
Definitely some smoke and mirrors for Canelo, but he excelling and improving as a fighter. His punch resistance now is maybe the most impressive thing about him. He went from running around GGG in fight 1, to holding the ring vs him in fight 2, to walking down Kovalev and now Smith. He is continuing to improve.Comment

Who is slick and available? Andrade is a real poo poo. Charlo ain't close to slick. Saunders isn't in Canelo's league. Then who? He's not a fraud, he's a great fighter. The fraud is that he's this undisputed p4p king who nobody can touch when we already know that there are plenty of guys out there that can compete with him. But the media just keeps covering it up. It's also a big fraud that he's this new and improved skilled fighter since the Lara fight when he hasn't fought anyone like that since then.Comment

Andrade and Charlo aren't Mayweather slick, but they offer a lot of troubling things that Canelo's recent opponents didn't offer - a great jab PLUS solid footwork, hand speed, ring IQ, ability to fight you both on the inside and outside.Comment

I don't really disagree with any of these, but it's the idea that people are acting like he just dominated the best guy in or around his weight class that's a fraud. We all know it is. I'm not even saying Andrade or Charlo would beat Canelo, but we all know they'd put up a better fight than Canelo's recent opponents. His handlers know it too.I think the issue with Canelo is not so much 'who' he faces, but 'when' and sometimes 'how' he faces them. Who are all these slick Mayweather clones he’s avoiding?
Nobody has that style around his weight class except maybe Plant and Boo Boo. And let’s be honest, they haven’t fought anybody even close to Canelos league.Comment

I already answered that question but you keep coming back with the same thing. There are no mayweather clones, but we already know that an elite jab, solid defense, footwork, hand speed, movement all give Canelo trouble. GGG and Kovalev are the only 2 recent opponents that had any of these things, and it was just the jab and footwork. Charlo and Andrade have that plus the speed and better movement. Not saying they win, but they present a lot more to think about than these other guys. I don't know how anyone can say with a straight face that Andrade/Charlo aren't bigger threats than Smith/Fielding/Kovalev and even GGG.Comment
