Sorry, but this guy is not legendary. Canelo has fantastic hand speed, boxing IQ, and waist movement. Works well against slower, straight up and down no special effects European fighters with power. But put him in there with a slick, skilled, multidimensional American boxer and I promise you it won't be the same.

After being exposed by Mayweather and Lara, Canelo's team got smart and made it a point not to put it in there w/ a skilled American fighter ever again. All slow/flawed/Europeans aside from Danny Jacobs, and Danny Jacobs is not an elite fighter.

Sorry if the truth hurts you Canelo fans, but the truth is rarely pleasant.

I thought he beat lara in a close fight. Also he fought mayweather when he was very young and green.

I have no problems scoring the fight for him over Lara, but the point is he won't fight slick guys who are super fast w great footwork and handspeed.

Canelo is an excellent fighter but there’s no denying they have avoided any real slick fighters that can move and use angles since Lara.

Even Eric Gomez from Golden Boy said he thought Saunders is a bad style for Canelo.

But that’s the boxing business. Pretty much most top fighters will avoid a certain style they don’t like, if they can.

It’s not that Canelo can’t beat them but he’s the A side, why are they going to pick fights where he looks bad even if he wins?

Sadly that’s how the game works.

Yes that's true, but which top fighters are not cherry picking? He's using the mayweather blueprint on matchmaking.
