Be capable of continually shifting the fight in their favor and not allow Canelo to land his big shots.

Maybe it is just me who grew up watching this sport since I was a kid in the 70's and watching so many great boxers I think Clenelo leaves me wanting more. Just a B+ fighter who has been very carefully matched.
Well that puts you in your 50s and so maybe your head’s getting a little mushy and your eyes a little fuzzy. That would explain very well why you don’t know what the hell you’re looking at anymore when you watch fights.

        1) Landing a commited jab. Canelo has issues dealing with a comitted jab. Whenever he gets hit with it, he has to readjust his position
        2) A Solid Chin. This is a must, to withstand Canelo's shots
        3) Backing Canelo up. Since the first GGG fight, no one else has really been able to push Canelo back. He's a really good inside fighter but he's sacrificed that for being weaker in fighting on the back foot
        4) Solid 1-2 combinations. After getting hit with a committed jab, he's prey for a right straight.
        5) Solid movement. Canelo has issues with boxers who have good lateral movement

One fighter i can think of if they fought Prime for Prime would be Andre Ward.

first, it shouldnt be in Nevada, where they allow ginger to 'stack' his handwraps, second, no rehydration, dehydration, no weight games favoring a cheater, and 3rd, fight must be announced and contract signed at least 3-4 months before the fight, so proper blood testing could start immediately
take these 3 out of Canelo and he becomes average

First and foremost, you need an opponent who didn't simply show up for the payday. Smith didn't show up, Kovalev didn't show up, they came to collect the cash and not upset the apple cart.

I would’ve loved to have seen a 168 pound Andre Ward versus this version of Canelo.

                    Good footwork like Floyd had.

                    Good jab like Golovkin had.

Canelo can be outworked, the trick is someone who can avoid his counters. He makes his opponents gun shy, they don't like what's coming back at them. He's not only accurate, but heavy handed as well.
