    Some highlights:

The initially scheduled rematch was called off because Alvarez tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug.

but the average sports fan has never heard of any of his prospective opponents other than Golovkin.

a fighter in his prime beating up on an old man.

His first major fight was against Shane Mosley, who was too small and too old. Miguel Cotto was too small. Amir Khan was too small and never as good as advertised. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. had his father’s name but nothing else. Kovalev was finished.

Alvarez has taken a number of legitimate gambles and deserves credit for that. But he was fortunate to be awarded victories over Austin Trout and Erislandy Lara, against whom he didn’t show well. He looked like an amateur against Floyd Mayweather
What excuse will you have when he moves up to beat Beterbiev or Bivol? Will you still bring up Mayweather then? Lara screwed himself for being such do-nothing fighter and the only thing anyone remembers about the Trout fight is Trout doing the highlight reel funky chicken.

Bring on 160-168 guy with Khan`s skills and a good chin and he beats Canelo. It is not a rocket science.

Maybe, just maybe Plant or Benavidez on his best day beats Canelo.

Bivol beats him for sure. even at 168.

Is that so? Would that be because he decisioned the one dimensional Joe Smith or because he decisioned the shot-to-hell Jean Pascal?

GGG had what it took to beat him, I gave the first fight to GGG, but was fine with the draw. We saw that Canelo adjusted and beat GGG cleanly in the 2nd fight. Since then, Canelo has improved in almost every facet, he's elite defensively now. He's a couple levels up from what he was when he beat GGG last, so I'm not sure who has what it takes to beat him.

If Beterbiev beats him, it won't be because he's a better boxer, it'll just be that he's much bigger and stronger.

Agreed GGG beat him in his first match, but GGG was taken to school in the rematch.

Because he is better boxer than Canelo is. And a bigger guy.
