See, I can't list Valero, because he literally knocked everyone out and frankly, I don't think he would have gotten past a top level with his style.

Like back when there were talks about him fighting Manny, I think Manny would have dusted him off in six.

But it's not like Valero was really headed anywhere, if that makes sense. He was like Orlando Salido back in the day - Salido had notable wins but never went anywhere, either.

It's like, Valero couldn't have been unfulfilled because you could just tell that his style wasn't going to last, if that makes sense.

          Paul Williams
          Bermane Stiverne

Others, like Pirog were injured but I doubt he goes on to be an ATG. Likely loses to Golovkin if they fought.

Of the fighters you listed, the most disappointing is Amir Khan because he at least had an unteachable quality and that's hand speed. He had a successful career but it should've been more successful.

Another name not mentioned in Gary Russell Jr. . He was top 5 in fastest hands in boxing history. Insane speed. Yet, didn't care about being great.
Nobody disputed that Paul Williams was talented. He just was being overhyped (He even admitted as such later) too soon.

Broner was a BEAST in the lower levels before he changed to defensive. When he would walk guys down. He was a VERY impressive fighter - and frankly, you don't get to be a four-division champion if you don't have at least some skill.

Jeff Lacy was actually a very, VERY good fighter that came up against the one guy who at the time simply had too much in the tank. It was and still is rare to see super middleweights actually try to throw combinations like he would do.

As far as Stiverne, it is true that he was largely protected in his career. But he was a fundamentally sound fighter that just couldn't show up at the top levels (same as Ike Quartey, actually).

TO be fair, we can directly correlate the decline in ticket sales to Broner's loss after Chino. No more grand entrances from these boring fighters nowadays.

I hear ya, and I honestly ain't sure what would have happened... there were vulnerabilities and maybe he would have fallen short at the top level, but we never got to find out which is kinda what I meant by a disappointment. But yeah, I hear ya, Edwin never really reached the level where we could say for sure that he was - or could have been - an elite talent.

Also worth noting that DiMarco can very reasonably considered Broners best win too, although granted AB made significantly easier work of him than Edwin

You have to go back to 2014 to find a year where Gary had more then 1 fight in a year.

Those saying Victor... I mean I get it, but what signature win did he really have?

It's like he went from 'eye test' straight to failure.
