I honestly have Plant over Benevidez as well. Benevidez’s footwork is awkward and slow. He lunged with his shots and fires them in a loop. Plant is probably one of the fastest in the division, had excellent footwork and is an elite counter puncher. Given that I think he truly picks Benevidez apart. What saves Benevidez though is his power.

Benavidez power saves him and his change of hand speed too possibly. I agree that Plant can possibly beat him I'm a hometown Plant fan I think it would be a battle of wills if they fight. I still give Benavidez the edge even though I'll root for Plant.

Good catch and analysis. I’d go either way. Have liked Plant from the first fight I ever saw him in.

This is what happens when you have a cash cow in the division. You get the top fighters fighting guys of this caliber so they can stay in the mix.

The problem with Canelo is even bigger because he can fight anybody form 160 to 175. Every time he is going to be looking for an opponent they will be a traffic jam with fighters either not fighting to taking a soft touch.

The only fight I remember with him was 160 against Danny Jacobs.

And I forgot about that one lol.

He beat James DeGale for the IBF168 two years ago, then lost it back to him in a really close rematch (two cards 114-113) that I thought could have gone either way.


Ironically, he fought Quillin last April in a final eliminator to fight Plant, but it ended in a NC due to cuts. I guess Truax is getting the fight anyways lol

Fight is not a good matchup but it will serve as a stay busy fight before the Canelo/Smith/Saunders unification takes place, I'm almost sure that if Alvarez is able to beat Smith and Saunders he will try to go undisputed and that last belt will be in Plant's posession.

I'm cool with this Truax fight.

Truax is ranked #6 at Ring, but he's #42 on BoxRec. Not to say that BoxRec is infallible, but that's a pretty big discrepancy. The BoxRec and Ring rankings of the other fighters are pretty similar, except for Truax.

What does Ring Magazine owe Truax? I don’t see the connection there. But like I said earlier Truax is just a name to me. I’ve never seen him fight before so I’ll find out how good he is when he gets in the ring with Plant.
