the Taylor who beat Hopkins was outstanding

and Golovkin had patchy moments like with Ouma, Jacobs, Canelo, Derevyanchenko

Hopkins would defuse Golovkin and frustrate him

and Golovkin is much more basic than Hopkins, he does not have the IQ or the toolbox that Hopkins used to undress Pavlik

The Hopkins who dominated Trinidad would win an easy decision.

Golovkin squeaked past a guy who is NOWHERE NEAR Hopkins level
Did I just read that also???

How the heck does anyone compare Jacobs to Hopkins??? One a HOFamer the other one has to buy a ticket.

Lol Hopkins would beat on him with something ******.

GG might turn into another Elephant man like Joppy haha

Hopkins is just way too cunning and smart for a basic fighter like GG. He couldnt even beat a tiny ass Canelo how the *** is he gonna compete with Hopkins.

I think Toney would win,but Golovkin is far more skilled than Barkley. The same Toney that was behind against Nunn,Razor close with an old McCallum, went split with Reggie Johnson ,nearly lost to Tiberi, lost to 5 foot 7 Montell Griffin, doesn't beat a guy like Golovkin up like Barkley.

Bro don't waste your time trying to get all particular about it, mentioning that BHop struggled at times with guys much worse than GGG etc. Support/opposition for fighters is usually along tribal lines - with GGG it is like on steroids. People who don't like him just see red and don't want to be logical about him.

My instinct would be Hopkins comfortably based on his best performances, but Hopkins has had a lot of mediocre performances vs less than elite opposition too. The Hopkins who lost to Taylor by doing nothing might get outworked. Hopkins thought he was some boxing savant and got edged by a very limited, green fighter.

GGG vs a fully trained non house arrest Dominic Wade would be a better comparison.

Lol...big surprise seeing you in a ggg thread.

Taylor was never “outstanding”...he was a hype job feasting on jrmw’s at that point. Hopkins should have exposed him.

I like 'fantasy fights' as much as the next guy. But any fight with BHop is just hard to call. He could look great against great fighters, and average against average fighters.

Rest assured though that anyone calling GGG an easy fight for anyone all-time at MW is either a fortune teller, or a hater. GGG has maybe the best pfp jab I've seen, great amateur pedigree (meaning he knows how to box), great chin, never been down, only been 'hurt' a couple times in his career, great activity rate.

The best Hopkins at MW was vs Glen Johnson imo. That was a great win. The best GGG is probably up for debate. Maybe Murray or something like that. If that BHop and that GGG squared off, it would be a great fight. Just a question of just how much Hopkins could neutralize GGG and slow him down. GGG isn't easy work for anyone at MW all-time.

Hopkins would tame Plodkin, and neutralize him... just like Pavlik

I have no idea if Golovkin would beat prime Kelly Pavlik, because he refused to take those type of challenges

when did Golovkin become one of the best in history ?
Hopkins and Pavlik fought at 170. Pavlik was alright man, but if one of the two of them was special, it is absolutely GGG
