Why do these organizations bend over for Canelo ALL THE TIME.....this shouldn't be for the WBC title, that should be fought between the highest ranked contenders, not champs of other organizations. They just wanna hand all their belts to this guy and claim he is some kind of GOAT..when in reality his best wins have come against Old washed up fighters and Lower weight class guys along with some very shady decisions going his way!!

Smith has been the wbc diamond champion for a while now.

Wbc diamond means you can request to fight for the world title and you get first dibs over the #1 ranked fighter per the wbc.

if he didn’t care about the belts, he wouldn’t have petitioned for the wbc belt the second Benavidez lost it on the scales. He didn’t necessarily want it when benavidez had it, but once he was out of the picture, Canelo became interested.

Everyone crying about the WBC putting the title on the line don't use common sense.

This fight is essentially the Lineal fight at 168 between the 2 highest rated fighters in the division who already hold WBC "ceremonial" belts,Smith got his by winning the WBSS & the diamond belt is supposed to entitle him to fight for the belt,Canelo is already franchise champ & Will likely rightfully vacate it if he wins(to face better comp)

I HATE Sulaifatass but this is crazy to pretend this fight is not worthy of the WBC that was vacated by cokedevidez. I already see a few btching who had no problems when the WBC let Loma jump the line to fight a C level for the WBC despite Haney wanting that smoke & waiting in line & despite Loma being unranked & it against the WBC rules.

These posters also had no problem when Loma vacated to become franchise champ despite never being a prior WBC beltholder & not having a reason to be franchise champ other than avoiding Haney to go for unification.

The article also states that Yildirim is on board because he will either get the vacant belt or face the champ next for it.(ergo if you read WBC rules it says in this situation this is allowed)
