Comments Thread For: Trainer: Joshua Was Not 100% in First Ruiz Fight, Won Rematch Comfortably

Robert McCracken, the head trainer of IBF, WBO, WBA, IBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, believes too many critics are focusing on his boxers' defeat at the hands of Andy Ruiz. Back in June of 2019, Joshua was dropped four times and stopped in the seventh when he faced Ruiz at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

And you can definitely say Ruiz wasn't 100% for the second fight, no doubt it was Ruiz fault with his lack of discipline but you got to wonder what would of happened if Ruiz would of trained properly. Supposedly Ruiz is taking it seriously now with Canelo and his trainer, if indeed that's true I wouldn't mind seeing number 3, I feel Joshua still has some demons if that fight happens, he just fought so defensive in that second fight, yes he won but he didn't win like he lost to Andy.

Yeah, Andy Ruiz obviously wasn't 100% for the rematch.

Yet Joshua still ran from him the whole fight.

A bit different to claiming he wasn't 100%. And it's not like anyone thinks he was at 100% either. We could see he wasn't quite himself, whether that was self inflicted or whatever.

The champion winning the rematch closes out the chapter unless it's close or controversial. Joshua has already proved he can be a worthy champion, Ruiz evidenced the opposite. I wouldn't have thought there would be any real debate from anyone on that

I suspect that if Ruiz gets himself right we will see the trilogy at some point, but I'm not sure we need it. It will be so Joshua can remove a bit more of that stain on his record.

Running is an understatement, that mofaka was sprinting for dear life, he'll do the same against Pulev you'll see.

The hillarious visuals of Anthony Joshua with the physique of a Greek statue, and Andy Ruiz with the body of your average joe sixpack sportsfan, first getting absolutely battered in the first match, then fighting absolutely terrified of the out of shape Ruiz in the rematch, will be very difficult for Joshua and his handlers to erase from memory.
