I think most women athletes being rational understand supply & demand. That's the whole reason fighters like Shields & others are going to MMA. There is more demand for their services there.

    Idk about this.

I know there are some combat sports fans who can't get into females fighting at all. Fair play to them.

But I'd argue most MMA fans just appreciate the fight itself more than they are turning off & on for specific fights.

And as a fan of both sports I definitely get more into female MMA fights than female boxing matches.

Granted there is still almost as much chance a fight goes to decision in a 5 minute round MMA bout as boxing bout, but it's still much more entertaining cuz of how evenly matched the fights tend to be.

Personally I think one of the biggest problems with boxing across the board is fights aren't evenly matched enough. Everything is about building a guy into a prospect, than into a contender, than into a champion, than into a superstar & you use clever matchmaking all the way up to the highest level you can reach without taking anything worse than a 70/30 your favor opponent.
I disagree with most women are rational when it comes to supply and demand.

Here in the US the woman professional soccer and basketball players are all demanding and have sued for equal compensation when compared to their male counterparts.

They think that just because they too are professionals they deserve the same pay. It's even gotten so ridiculous that women were included in the latest 2K basketball game and given thee most ridiculous ratings making them comparable to the most elite male basketball players in the world.

Can the best women players in the world compete with their male counterparts? Absolutely not.

Shields is gonna be fighting at 155lbs and there aren't any women to my knowledge who would even remotely be within her range to make what she wants especially considering she didn't even sign with UFC and even in the UFC you're not making millions unless you are a bona-fide star with legit skills.

Shields will be a striker at best because even if she developed some grappling skill she won't be able to beat people anytime soon when those guys probably have been doing that their whole life.

Most women MMA fights especially south of 145 revolve a lot around grappling because small women generally don't posses concussive power. Even Shields doesn't posses that kind of power and she's at 155.

When I'm looking to make a comparison I look at Holly Holm and she's a beast but has had a lot of mixed results. She's also much more well rounded than Shields and has a big pedigree in boxing as well.

Just when the girl who already beat her in the amateurs challenged her. What a coward.

Also boxing is not sexist, maybe its Claressa and her family who are just terrible human beings.

To be clear I was speaking on female athletes. I think they understand the economics cuz that's part of the business. I wouldn't argue there is a vocal segment of female athletes who suggest their should be better or equal pay. I just think that's a vocal minority. Most female athletes know the score & just staying out of the debate as much as possible.

Its not like you gotta take a vote on suing mofos. And the world is bigger than the US & those 2 sports.

Randomly those WNBA girls are likely suing themselves outta a job. The WNBA has almost gone outta business paying what they pay now. If they got benched NBA players money the WNBA is bankrupt the next day.

Agree & I believe this has been proven in a few sports including with the William's sisters in tennis.

Shields is gonna be fighting at 155lbs and there aren't any women to my knowledge who would even remotely be within her range to make what she wants especially considering she didn't even sign with UFC and even in the UFC you're not making millions unless you are a bona-fide star with legit skills.
There is a high level 2 time olympian herself in the PFL that I assume is the short term target for her.

I suspect it's extremely possible a Shields who becomes a 155lb draw in the PFL could get the UFC to open a new weight division. There are a few bigger girls out there & several girls simply cut to make lower divisions as is.

It's also worth noting the UFC gots a 145lb division now & Shields could likely drop some lbs herself & has been.

I'm not saying I'd bet on it necessarily, but I see the potential for it & Shields obviously does to & she knows what's up with boxing. If I was in her position I'd likely gamble on MMA myself.

Shields will be a striker at best because even if she developed some grappling skill she won't be able to beat people anytime soon when those guys probably have been doing that their whole life.
Lotsa girls have done well for themselves without lifelong dedication to fighting. Sh^t lotsa girls never had a MMA fight before Shields' current age, 26. Hell McGregor got to be the biggest name in the game on the men's side of things with limited grappling skills & just a high level sprawl game. The women's side isn't as deep so I'd say if she gets good sprawl tactics she doesn't need to become a high level wrestler or BJJ assassin to make a good run. And if she does learn more disciplines at a high level she becomes more dangerous.

To end this & be clear I'm not saying she's a future UFC or even PFL champion I'm just saying I see the potential for success & maybe more importantly to her & her future I see much more money upside for her in MMA whatever level she reaches. Heather Hardy is even on record saying she made more in 1 MMA fight than she ever made in boxing. I'm sure Shields is seeing her boxing checks & seeing the potential upside in this PFL offer already. I wish her luck in this endeavor.

She wants no part of Savannah Marshall

Marshall is one of the only female boxers that is dangerous with power. She puts beatings on opponents and stops them

She would wreck shields. Too strong, too good and hits too hard.

Shields knows it too. Shields has been shook since Marshall’s fight a few weeks ago against an opponent they shared.

Yeah It Is I won't deny it nor can I get offended for her stating the Obvious

Her frustration I think is because she is kinda just left out here on her own with ZERO Support from PBC, Top Rank, GBP or anybody, compared to Katie Taylor and now Savanah Marshall who Eddie is Pushing and Promoting in the UK

Maybe boxing fans rejected her because of her thug character and lack of charisma and class?

She's supposedly accomplished all she can in Boxing. If that's true, then that demonstrates how SHALLOW the talent pool is given that she only has 10 bouts. The weight hopping should make it easier to find opponents, so it really comes down to $$$. Fighters rarely get paid based on merit; they get paid what they can negotiate. She's not getting paid $1 million without increasing her marketability and/or improving her team. It may be a good idea to juggle Boxing and MMA as it'll increase her visibility and keep her active.

Yeah I guess that's why hardcore right wingers are religious fanatics AND gun fanatics. How do those two things correlate? Respect thy fellow man unless they believe in a different invisible man than you, then kill them. You Trump clowns make me laugh.

Keep supporting your entitled, lazy, racist, corrupt, incompetent scumbag of a president. Vladdy Daddy loves you guys. The right is so easy to flock like a herd of sheep to whatever BS your pathetic, compromised president spews. All dead soldiers are losers and suckers right? I suppose you think COVID-19 is a conspiracy that is designed to take away your freedoms right? You people are dumb beyond belief. Go read a book instead of Trump's spitey teenage girl level tweets on a daily basis and you might actually learn something. Even his POS AG Barr says there was no voter fraud!
GTFOH with your lies and unfounded conspiracies.
