Only a canelo hater would think callum smith is an easy opponent or a cherry pick fight 😎 should be thankful to see the face of boxing fight during this pandemic and enjoy his boxing iQ and great boxing skills one more time,,and for the haters just a reminder canelo is not a light heavyweight boxer, so stop trying to match him with them, I know you wanna see him get knock down or ko badly 😂😂😁😁haterz

And this same guy KO'd Fielding in 1st round.

We have some hyping the fight, we have others not happy with the opponent and we also have some upset about who's promoting and televising it.

Canelo should beat Smith and I doubt he will have too many problems although I don't think it will be a Rocky Fielding blowout. The Smith brothers are too tough.

All things considered (December fight in the pandemic), it's a quality matchup. I imagine his partnership with DAZN and Matchroom are a one-off for this fight. My guess is Alvarez will be working with different promotions each fight, depending on the opponent at that time. Plant and PBC probably next.

I don't know, maybe the same amount of times that it takes for you fan boys to see that Canelo consistently picks someone coming off of a bad performance and then combines that with giving them short notice to train for the fight. Oh, and for good measure he'll likely throw in a rehydration clause. We all know Smith lost his last fight, we all know he struggles to make 168, now he's essentially going to spend the next few weeks primarily cutting weight while Canelo has known all along he was fighting in December because there's been footage of him training for close to 2 months now.

yeah, Smith ko'd fielding 5 years ago. He deserved to lose his fight to the most basic of fighters in just his very last fight. The timing of when you fight someone matters. So consistently picking either old/past prime names or guys coming off fights that they arguably lost has some relevance.

this is like to say why is Spence fighting Danny Garcia who lost to Mauricio Herrera, Porter, Thurman... blah blah blah... does DSG even have a belt and undefeated?

So what if Smith had a close controversial win. These same bozos would say "wah wah why is Canwlo fighting Ryder!" The truth is the fanbases from Pac are dormant because Manny isnt active, amd there isnt a PBC idol under Haymon atm like Floyd, so they hate that Canelo is doing his thing
I'm glad that you know better than to address me directly. You now have a healthy fear of me embarrassing you and your lack of boxing knowledge, along with me reminding you about your post where you admitted sniffing Coke with underage males.

Your reply proves why you have close to 18000 posts in less than 2 yrs but not 1 positive rep. You're a dummy whose comparisons are way off. Garcia lost fights to good fighters, not a bum like Ryder, his losses are going on years, not his last fight like Smith, spence is coming off a near life ending accident, not a year long vacation like Canelo after only facing 1 top fighter that can be considered to be in their prime over the past 6 yrs. Like I said in my last post, we all know what Canelo is doing. He's facing a guy who deserved to lose his last fight, he's giving him short notice knowing that he struggles to make weight and will spend the next few weeks solely trying to boil down to 168, and for good measure he'll drop in a nice little rehydration clause. Now go back to pretending you're Mexican you euro f@g.

I think that people are too quick to write off a fighter after one bad night. For example, Zab Judah looked terrible when he was upset by Carlos Baldomir. But then he comes back in his next fight to trouble a prime Floyd Mayweather for the first half of their fight.

Callum Smith was seen as a major challenge for Canelo prior to the Ryder fight and he may still turn out to be that. Smith wouldn’t be the first fighter to rebound from a poor performance so let’s focus on more than one performance.

Boxing is going to disappoint you if you're particularly worried about this strategy, feasting on smaller/past their best opponents is extremely common

I do somewhat agree with you, Smith only really has Groves on his record and sure the Ryder fight was closer than it should have been. But I put that down to ring rust/an off night.

Benavidez's record is of very similar quality in my opinion.

So the question is, at 168, who would be more worthy? Or, is Canelo expected to sit out until somebody clears out their division first?
