Comments Thread For: Jim Gray Pens Book On GOATs, And Boxing Plays Prevalent Part With Ali, Tyson, Mayweather

The first interview of sports broadcaster Jim Gray's career came when he sat down with Muhammad Ali as an 18-year-old intern for ABC, and some of the most memorable sound bites he produced came when he stood toe-to-toe with Mike Tyson on Showtime.

He mentioned Mayweather? Oh dear, that’s going to positively enrage the “La Raza” contingent

Good interview, apart from the bit where he answers the Floyd question by talking about something that happened in a different sport in the 1970s. Liked the rest though and didn't know Ali helped his career like that

He always annoyed me. Prior to Pete Rose he tried to distinguish himself as the "tough question" guy. Acted like a prick. Then people turned on him with the Rose incident and he metamorphasized into a giant kiss ass to save his career. It was two extremes. A pencil necked phony.

He is. I liked when James Toney punked him out. Never gets old.
