One more thing Canelo does not now or ever have a contract with DAZN to fight on their platform, so they could not even in principle require Canelo to fight exclusively on their platform.Comment

Sit back and wait for the best offer to come in! Make it very clear that you're not signing anything long term with any of these Promoters or Networks so they shouldn't even waste their time trying to trap him into another BS Deal like he just got out of
I think he should do Yildirim in December, let that go to Purse bid and whoever spend the most money on it that is the Platform he fights on for that fight

First of all, Canelo being a free agent is a good thing for boxing fans compared with Canelo being tied up in court for an extended period.
Second, I think it's a bad time to be a free agent, just because the economic dynamics are extremely weak in the sport on account of the pandemic. Light potentially at the end of the tunnel with vaccine developments though and we could well be in a much better place by next summer.
Third, the problem with the DAZN deal was the opposing wants/needs between the paymaster and the fighter. DAZN wanted the big fights (basically GGG) for the money they were paying. Canelo had no immediate financial incentive to take challenging fights. Hence fights like Fielding (though fair play for taking on Kovalev). The friction was inevitable, especially with the aforementioned pandemic sea change.
Somewhat ironically, then, now that Canelo is free of DAZN he is going to have to take on board more of their mindset -- i.e. looking for fights that will entice the viewers. More irony: I think GGG would offer him the best ratio of reward to risk that is out there, but I doubt that fight will get made.
Yes Canelo is a big name in boxing, but that makes him a big fish in a small pond. Can a fight with someone like Yilidirim really pull in decent PPV numbers in the current economic environment? I'm sceptical.Comment

no way he makes "much more". Dazn was over paying him and he was not worth anywhere near 35 mil per fight. Just for comparison, canelo made a 5 mil guarantee vs ggg in the rematch and after a Ppv that sold well over 1 mil in ppvs, he cleared much more. Now if you look at the fighters available for canelo and his Ppv history of not even clearing 1 mil buys with Cotto , who is going to get him over 1 mil Ppv buys? He’s going to end up with likely under 20 mil after Ppv vs anyone like a charlo, plant or benavidez. He’ll make much more as he will be more accessible to the fans than he was before. He was literally forgotten on dazn. He will make much more through PPV on general exposure alone....and with much better opposition. Let us not forget than taking a 50% pay cut is what dazn wanted to pay him, with a percentage of his money going to the promoter golden boy. If he does go with haymon, he will take home much more of the money including the legendary “back end” money that comes with being in charge of the promotion through a fighters’ own company. It’s precisely how the Charlos and Santa Cruz have mansions that surprised viewers. Canelo knows that hat he’s doing, he knows where the real money is. Dazn clearly spent more than it could afford, mainly due to the fact that Americans didn’t buy into it, and one simply cannot be a star on a stand alone app. Had dazn gotten university grid iron football, Major League Baseball, NFL football, nba basketball, or at least the or a grand slam tennis tournament then it would have been ok.Comment

do you really think that it wasn’t about the money? Especially after his arguments with dazn started mainly due to him not wanting a pay cut ? Cmon now. This is the same guy who fought Rocky fielding for 35 mil and said he was “ chasing greatness “.Like Canelo said it wasn't about the money. DAZN was preventing him from making those fights that people want to see. I am not sure he will make less than DAZN was willing to pay. They would only pay the guaranteed amount if Canelo fought Oscar, GGG and a couple of MMA types. Presumably, DAZN would pay the top amount if he fought the likes of Jake Paul, the Youtube guy, and perhaps even Rue Paul -- who knows. We do know that DAZN threw cold water on fights with Callum Smith, Plant, Charlo and other bonafide champs -- go figure.Comment

Why does it feel like he could be “blocked out “ and will be forced to take risky fights that he will most likely lose at 175. If I was PBC, DAZN or Top Rank they can just agree to not fight him with their fighters then that’s it.Comment
