Corner Men Throwing the Towel in Because Their Man is Being Slaughtered.

Breland did it with Wilder. Was that the right move as a corner man and was this the morale thing to do.

I say that Breland knows what is happening and did what he thought was right.

I got banned from a thread (by Da Tongue) for stating that he (Breland) did as he should have.

What were some other fights where a towel was thrown?........Rockin'

I can understand why from a compassionate perspective, why the fight was stopped but really 'I don't think the fight should of been stopped'.

Deontay Wilder was not some prospect who needed protecting 'He was a 5 year reigning WBC heavyweight Champion'. Was this fight really the worst beat down in history? No.

Wilder at the time of the stoppage was still fighting back 'And you should never take a puncher out of a fight'.

I am not sure what all this morality talk is about? Boxing is a violent sport, most people move away from these kind of situations in life 'Where as boxers train to endure and compete in those environments'.

Wilder was still fighting back, he never gave up inside of that ring.

Note: Again I stress, I can fully 100% understand why the fight was stopped. But when you analyse the entire situation? Deontay Wilder was not some prospect that needed protecting and saving for another day 'He was a 5 year reigning WBC heavyweight champion of the world'. And this moment THIS FIGHT, was a defining moment in his life and career 'Yes he was being beaten, yes he was struggling dearly, but the man was fighting back' Deontay Wilder did not give up on himself.

Mark Breland did nothing wrong, but as you can see? There are arguments as to why, the fight should of been stopped or allowed to carry on.

Yeah sure, let the fight continue until he receives permanent brain damage. I'm sure that would have made his wife and kids feel better knowing that he didn't throw in the towel.

If the boxer is taking a beating and in danger of injury that is what a corner man is supposed to do. Breland did his job correctly. Wilder was not going to recover. He was only going to take more punishment and Breland save him from more heavy blows and being KOed. the ref probably would have soon stopped the fight anyway but Breland's timing was good. Things were hopeless for Wilder when he threw in the towel. He may have saved Wilder from brain damage. Wilder had no chance to win or even survive so why let the fight continue.

Wilder had virtually no chance at that point. He didn’t even have his usual puncher’s chance as his legs had abandoned the fight already. Sure, a lot of us would have enjoyed watching the beating continue but that’s nothing to be proud of.

Let's see... Wilder says that he was spiked with muscle relaxers, and he was forced to carry a heavy suit to the ring while he was not in control of his body. He also says that Fury had egg weights in his gloves, and had been making dents in his head with them. After 6 and a half rounds of getting battered, pillar to post... Wilder definitely needed saving. If he wasn't saved, he may have been killed in the remaining 5 and a half, if what he says is true. Based off of that analysis, I would say Mark Breland done the right thing in throwing in the towel. Why would he want to let his man take any more egg weights to the head, after having his earhole clawed open with some foreign object, and being weighed down by the heavy suit? Wilder would be asking Breland to let him possibly die in the ring. Seems like a dumb thing to expect of a compassionate man, who knows all about the dirty side of Boxing.
