Ppl say Breland stopped Wilder getting possible brain damage but after listening to Wilders insane ramblings 8 months after the fight I think Breland did too little too late.Comment

Oh I agree that I’ve seen fighters take much worse beatings before a fight is stopped. Heck sun have even come back. I think the “died” part comes up as a bit of an ironic jab because of all of Wilders talk about killing someone in the ring. We have to remember nobody is bigger than the sport. If someone does die in there it’s bad press and maybe one day they take this sport away from us. Just cause he’s willing to die or take a beating it doesn’t mean he should. The fans pay these men, if we are happy with a fight being stopped then that’s best for the sport. Wilder knew the parameters of a fight being stopped. Yeah it was his trainer and not the ref, but let’s say he got beat down even worse, and was left a limp mess on the floor? Then his stock would go down, cause that’s the image people would remember. With his trainer throwing in the towel it at least saved sum of his value. Probably let him earn more in a rematch than he would have if he kept fighting to no avail. I’m not saying there wasent a chance he could land the gigaton blow, but let’s face it he didn’t land all night. So if he was allowed to keep going he would have shown heart but it would have affected his career negatively. He totally could have taken more punches for sure, and as a ref I wouldn’t stop it. But he did t show anything all night so I totally see why a corner man would stop it. He was getting embarrassed skill wise in there. So you stop him from getting exposed more which hurts him in any return fight. But I do get it, if he’s that stubborn and delusional or maybe prideful then yeah let him take more of a beating till the ref stops it. Woulda saved him his job. But I mean if it was your son let’s say? Think of it that way. All Wilder had to do was have shown more in the fight to have deserved more benefit of the doubt but he didn’t. If his claims of his 40lb suit draining his legs are true then he already ripped off all the fans by not entering the ring %100. He should apologize cause it’s his own fault. So he stole from us in the first place, so why should we care about his plight? He ripped us off, and it cost him nothing. If you showed up to a job hungover and underperformed you would probably get fired or face consequences. He got paid millions, and he screwed up, ripping everyone off. Cost him nothing. What a scum bag. His wild excuses shame boxing and set it back for everyone. The dude wears track pants on the scale and thinks he can wear a weighted top to the ring on his dandelion legs? He screwed everyone first if he truly believes it was a factor. Too bad excuse have always had legs in boxing, shame. He will always have a punchers chance. I just hate how selfish he is being. Doing the sport no favours. Not so much dain bramage but hurt ego. Getting beaten like a punching bag is one thing. To have a member on your team throw in a towel ? Might as well given him a vasectomy while he was at it.
Boxers know any punch can be the last. When a towel is finally thrown, it's nice to think it saved a life. But let's be logical. How many clean punches landed prior to the towel ?
OK, it wasn't the 101th punch to ruin him. It was the 105th. If only the cornerman could have thrown the towel a couple of punches sooner....
If the boss says to throw the towel in if you see him getting whooped, you better throw that towel. Even though you know it won't end the fight.
If the boss says never throw in a towel, that he wants to go out on his shield, you have to give your boss that respect.Comment

Gotta separate personal from professional. Easier said than done of course. In Wilders defense, he did warn his team of the consequences.
Wait to the end of the round and call the ref over. Tell the ref your guy is having an off night and please stop the fight.
Unless your guy is literally out on his feet and the ref is just standing there smiling, leave the towel alone.
