Should Canelo Even Sign With a Network?

He's obviously going to be getting offers from the other heavy hitters, but is that the smart thing for his career? Would it be better if he just kept himself a free agent and went fight by fight? He could fight Plant on FOX/SHO PPV and then turn around and fight someone from TR on ESPN PPV. I don't know if possible, but maybe even go do a fight on DAZN with one of their MWs or SMWs?

If he should sign with a network, which one should he sign with?

He needs to stay a free agent and go to highest bidder (per fight)

Imo no. He should remain a network free agent and this allows him to make the best fights.

If he had to sign, pbc gives him the ppv option but espn has a wider audience and can better grow his brand.

Canelo needs to follow the Mikey Garcia blueprint, Mikey is one of the highest Paid Boxers in the game by just being a free agent. Every fights he gets offers from Dazn, PBC, Goldenboy, hell even Zuffa Boxing has put in multiple offers to Mikey Garcia and its always 5 Million+ offers.

Canelo can pull a power move off this and jumpstart/push his own promtion to next level, Ryan Garcia, Luis Nery, etc

Come On! I mean I get it it is some who HATE Al Haymon and PBC BUT that is the best option for him as far as Opponents at 160-168 and also too with PBC you are able to remain a Network and Promotional Free Agent. You can even Self Promote and build your own Brand and Own Promotion and control your own Cards and control your own Books. So yeah I do think like Mikey, take some fights with PBC but don't do any long term deals with Anybody

ESPN and Top Rank is a great Alternative but they don't have anything for him at 160-168 other than I guess Murata and maybe Berlanga in a few years but Arum is in control and once again you would be in the same situation you was in with GBP

Not everyone can pull this off, but Canelo is one of the few that can. I would love for him to go this route. Don't sign any network deals and go fight to fight.

Now, even if he does sign a network deal, he is the biggest star in the game so fighters will have to come to him regardless.

He wants Plant in December and that will be interesting. Surely all his fights outside of DAZN will be on PPV, but Spence vs DSG is two weeks prior. So do they run two PPVs that close to each other? I'd think no.

They do because it’s almost 2 different audiences.

Spence/Garcia is more of an east coast fight that appeals to a more urban audience while canelo/plant appeals to the Mexican audience.

If pbc must take one off of ppv, it will be Spence/ Garcia. Frankly, that feels like a Fox fight more than a ppv fight.

PBC certainly have a lot of options for Canelo. If he is to sign a network/advisor/promotional deal, sure it would make sense to sign with the PBC. But I'm just saying, he can pull off being a FA after every fight and fighting on any network for the best fight.

At PBC, rank from the following of the fights you would most want to see:

                  -Mall Charlo
                  -Mell Charlo
                  -Benavidez
                  -Plant
                  -Spence
                  -Derevyanchenko

Oh no, Spence vs DSG will definitely be PPV. They would just push it back to January.

But I don't think they are two totally different audiences to be honest.

Will be interesting to see the fallout from this. Does Jacobs stick with DAZN? He has one fight left on his deal. How about Andrade? GGG? Canelo leaving should actually make it easier to make GGG vs Andrade.
