Should Canelo Even Sign With a Network?

Being a free agent might be a good way to go. He is fighting in court now over long term contracts he signed. He is a proven money maker and boxing's biggest star and he is smart. Does he need any help to make big money?Comment

It's going to be interesting what DAZN wants to do in terms of investing heavy in boxing statewide. They are launching the global app soon and I'm guessing Hearn puts more cards in the UK and even takes fighters like GGG there for showdowns against Smith or BJS. It looks like that is where they are heading towards. But it will be smart for them to make Ortiz Jr and Garcia happy as both have star potential. Garcia is already a name which is super impressive considering his age and lack of resume'.
But losing Canelo was a huge loss no doubt. Mannix just mentioned on his podcast and it's been mentioned before, but he said Canelo was clearly the biggest subscription driver and the only fighter people stayed on to watch. Garcia could potentially be the next big star and may take that spot one day. He has BIG leverage going forward from both GBP and DAZN.Comment

You’re right about that. But David cant keep making 168 and he’s not exactly a “huge” name. It’s be nuts for us fans. But if David cant make 168, I’d love him in against the top dogs at 75 when he fills in properly. Canelo doesnt so the whole mexican thing anymore remember?
Wherever he goes, it’ll be fun - PBC of ESPN. ESPN just for the sheer spectacle of the face of boxing on ESPN. Off the top of my head, Top Rank has Murata. Eleider Alvarez at 75 which could be a calculated risk. Very winnable. Flirt with the idea (publicly) that he’d fight Beterbiev (which he wouldnt).
I’m not sure If PBC would let Canelo in with Charlo for example unless there’s a good deal in place. Canelo can and will f uck off and be the only one benefitting. I’m sure they’d be MORE THAN GLAD to sacrifice half the stable if he signs a multi fight deal thoughComment

I could see him going to TR for a specific fight, but not long-term. And Arum has already said that he would never give close to what DAZN gave him. Now, who knows if anyone else gives him that much but TR simply doesn't have many options for him at the moment. But down the line if Berlanga ends up being the real deal? Ohhhweeeeee (Crawford voice), that could be a MEGA fight.
I mean for next fight it looks like he will work with Haymon and PBC, but not sure he signs a long-term deal. Mikey Garcia worked with Haymon for like three or four fights but never signed a deal with him and then left to DAZN to fight Vargas. I could see Canelo doing the same.Comment

What good opponents? Do you want DAZN to bend over backwards to have Canelo fight scrubs when he can be fighting bigger names? DAZN gave him that big ass contract to make money and not lose money in every fight. How do you expect him to get his full value when DAZN is going to lose money because of no live gate and the numbers will be lower?Statement from @DAZNBoxing official to me on parting ways with @canelo: "The matter has been resolved to the satisfaction of all parties." DAZN wished to express Canelo the best in his future endeavors. #boxing

Nah, he may end up fighting again on DAZN one day, but it won't be in December. This was Canelo getting out of his deal with GBP and getting away from DAZN. Canelo is still very upset at how DAZN treated him and how they were turning down good potential opponents.
Canelo should stay a free agent.Comment

I mean do we have to go through this again? DAZN literally wanted this man to fight UFC fighters or DLH over credible opponents such as Callum Smith or BJS.What good opponents?
