There aren’t enough posters suggesting he should be on the p4p list for it to even be discussed.I don’t think Tank should be disparaged at all. He’s a great fighter. But LSC is small for his weight class and doesn’t have a lot of power. He’s a bit one dimensional. I say that as a fan of LSC. After last night, he needs to retire. Kudos to Tank for what he got done, but I’m not sold on him as some sort of p4p king unless he can do that to Stevenson or Teo. It’s a whole different situation then. I neither agree with people disparaging Tank nor with those who are ballooning him up to p4p just yet. He has a style that’s ripe for the picking either by a Mayweather type (Stevenson) who can out athletic him, or for an elite counterpuncher with dynamite hands (Teo).
Why does it have to be Teo or shakur? Tank could beat Berchelt or Valdez and warrant p4p status if he did. They are quality opponents.
Tank also has a ko win over an undefeated Pedraza in his resume. Those 2 wins are top quality.
To bring up where Leo used to fight to disparage the win is just sad and petty.Comment

Some take it too far, but why bother listening to that perspective?
At the same time, no-one can deny weight/size was a factor without keeping a straight face. LSC looked terrible at 130, and wasn't even that big at 126. David is a lightweight draining to 130. Realistically these two fighters should have been 2 divisions apartComment

Hard to ignore it when it’s so prominent. Some take it too far, but why bother listening to that perspective?

Tank isn’t a LW. tank is a 130 lber that had never really taken care of himself in between fights so he had to fight at LW.
He finally dedicated himself and made 130 without issue. Leo had been at 130 for over a year. Yes, he could probably still make 126 comfortably.
But they are not 2 weight classes apart.
Leo was winning, made a tactical mistake, and got caught. The weight didn’t cause the win, the power and the timing did.Comment

Well, I can see your argument. There aren’t enough posters suggesting he should be on the p4p list for it to even be discussed.

Personally I have him just outside the top ten after last night. While I think Berchelt and Valdez are good they aren’t on the level of Stevenson and Teo.
If he beats one of the two I named, he should be ranked around 5 on the p4p list.
Tank is a lot like a smaller version of Mike himself. They remind me of each other.
I think Tank will go down in history as a HOF, but I just don’t see him retiring undefeated. He’s not the right type of fighter for that. It’s usually the Mayweathers and Wards that do. The more crafty guys with excellent defense. Tank is a great offensive minded fighter and he will beat most guys, I’m just saying there will be a Holyfield and maybe a Buster in there somewhere he loses to. I think he will get all the props he deserves when all is said and done, though.Comment

Disagree - Tank is massive at 130. He drains down to that weight, a weight Santa Cruz should not have touched which shows in his two fights there. A natural featherweight vs a lightweight able to drain downHard to ignore it when it’s so prominent.

and it's that factor that diminishes this win somewhat. I didn't say that was the reason for victory, but the reason why the fight didn't matter much in the grand scheme of things. I don't think it's Davis' fault, just that this win has limited meaning, similar to Loma/Rigo which was even worseComment

Sorry but the man who is considered king does so after fighting and beating his rivals. The winner of Lopez vs Davis gets the top honor of claiming to be the best and rises even higher in the top PFP rankings. If Davis decides not to stay at 135, the #1 135 pound king title goes to Lopez. A ruler is determined by reign, not just a collection of titles. When you have beaten the top 3-4 contenders, you are the king of the division.Last edited by richardt; 11-01-2020, 08:05 PM.Comment

Massive at 130? The kid is a smidgen over 5-5. No one ever referred to Loma as massive at 130 yet he is bigger than Tank.Disagree - Tank is massive at 130. nicely stated - despite wat many r stating, including the ridiculous Showtime cheerleading commentators- Davis has yet to b legitimately “tested”....7-1 odds - He only did wat he was supposed and expected to do to Lsc. Props to Leo - He took advantage of being Hispanic with a good fanbase(Pbc formula previously for Berto,AB) and cashed out a big Ppv payday! Now off to retirement.I don’t think Tank should be disparaged at all. He’s a great fighter. But LSC is small for his weight class and doesn’t have a lot of power. He’s a bit one dimensional. Leo won a vacant title in his ONLY fight at 130(over someone named M.Flores)....Leo’s lack of power made it easy for Davis to walk him down into the corner and Ko him as most predicted.Pillow-fisted Leo was dumb enough to trade with a power puncher!! End of story. Leo must have had a flashback and thought he was trading “pitty-pat” punches with Mares again!!Hard to ignore it when it’s so prominent.
