Think of a good "little heavyweight" and who comes to mind? For some it might be Ray Mercer. Others might say Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield or Joe Frazier. Maybe we could go back into the distant past and claim Jack Dempsey. Rocky Marciano, Gene Tunney or Floyd Patterson. How about Big' George Foreman? Lennox Lewis? Well what about Wladimir Klitschko? The term small heavyweight, it seems, takes in a lot.

The HW division is the only one I follow. I’m not sure I would be interested in watching anymore. The division already lacks depth. Povetkin is #4 in my rankings & is 41. Many of the top 15-20 are in their late 30s & early 40s. What does that say? Just leave it!

      Does Anyone Care

This is another reason why boxing has fallen off the radar. Just what we need, another weight class. We should have a title for every pound on the scale, beginning at 100 pounds and going to 250. That way we could have four champions in each of 151 weight divisions. The only people who care about boxing today are the people inside the sport and the boxing fanatics. People who follow football, basketball, ice hockey, baseball, tennis, etc., have little, if any, interest in boxing. If you go to a pro football game--when you could go--how many people in a stadium of 60,000 could name the middleweight champion of the world? When there were eight divisions and one champion in each, all sports fans knew it was Sugar Ray Robinson or **** Tiger or Jake LaMotta or Gene Fullmer. More belts and more sanction fees means one thing: more confusion.

They need another belt for Wilder though I doubt he'll ever fight again, let alone be competitive. Something like Naseem Hamed after Barrera loss.

WBC (The Green Belt) used to be considered as "The Real Belt," when I was a kid! Undisputed didn't even include the WBO! There weren't too many "Junior" weight classes either! These organizations have cheapened "belts!" They're useless!

Yeah they have Mayweather said it during the training clip about a week ago best. Its almost as if belts are participation trophies. Every fight is a title fight now. I'm a fairly hardcore fan and I cant name all belt holders off the top of my head Lol I'd consider myself an intelligent guy too. It's just too much with 4 or 5 belt holders per division.

Another thing that kills me is "waiting until it's a title fight!" Will we get Ennis vs. Ortiz Jr.? Not until it's a title fight! Could we get Lomachenko vs. Stevenson @ 130? Not unless it's a title fight, even though it's better than Herring vs. Frampton! Could we get Wilder vs. Ruiz? Not unless it's a title fight! Could we get Benavidez vs. Berlanga? Not unless it's a title fight! How about Prograis vs. Ergashev? Nope, no title at stake! How about a Thurman vs. Porter rematch? Hell nah, not without a title! SUCKS!

This all started when they decided to force minimums on HW.

Forever and a day a MW could fight at HW weighing their MW weight and as long as they do well no one gives a ****.

To protect those itty bitty "HWs" would imply there is an era where MW to HW was dangerous and people got hurt or killed because of the lack of minimal at HW. That era doesn't exist.

Ever since then more and more exclusion has been placed on the HW division as it drifts farther and farther from the Dempsey era of international hysteria.

The closest we've been to Dempsey since Dempsey are easily Ali and Tyson, neither of which were big men for their eras.

Maybe, just maybe, the whole reason why **** like Wlad happens is because they've forced to pool of talent to be nothing but fat ****s who carry jelly to be a HW.

The division will never be what it once was because there's no point. It went from king of boxing to king of fat ****s despite the smaller end of the division consistently carrying the excitement in the division. Let's bump that min up some more....that'll bring more consistent competition...excitement....sure...been working so ****ing well so far.

I think that the idea of a new weight class at around the proposed new limits does make some sense on paper but the timing's all wrong, it'd just steal away thunder from CW just as that's starting to become a respected division and not just slightly bigger LHW. Plus there's the obvious matter of it being yet another WBC cashgrab. Get rid of some more extraneous divisions in the lower weight classes and end the ridiculous parade of tacky novelty belts and end the whole franchise champion nonsense and then maybe we can talk about adding new weight classes.
