Little bit, it's weird Fury gets **** for his lack of defenses and Lennox gets praised for being the last undisputed but who did Lennox defend undisputed against?
Is Lennox Lewis overrated?

Lennox Lewis in his worst condition, bulled Vitali Kiltschko around the ring 'Kiltschko had his chance to beat Lennox Lewis and failed, at that stage of his career? There was no need for Lewis to continue on fighting etc.You said it ...absolutely. Tyson was well washed up then and didn't want to fight any more. Lewis either started a legal action or threatened to, if Tyson didn't fight him. So he did. And it was obvious from the beginning that he was only a shell. Lewis is a very common East London lower-class braggart pretending to be something he certainly is not. I come from over there and know all the accents. In London alone there are about 6-7 different accents before you get to the upper classes. There are social differences there from centuries ago, which they still thought were important.
I'm not denying that he was a good fighter, but he was on the verge of defeat in the Klitschko fight, when the dr. in a ****** moment told the ref to stop it. He gave 3-4 different excuses to exonerate himself afterwards when he realised that his reason for stopping it was not valid. The eyebrow cut was just flesh on bone with no major blood vessels nearby. The bleeding had stopped 2 rounds before. and was not bothering Klitschko at all. The 2 small surface cuts under his eye were no problem. Klitschko, to make a point, appeared on a special interview about 7 days after the fight, and he showed a close-up of the cut. There was no cut visible and no swelling at all.
Lewis on TV gave him absolutely no credit at all, only running him down. He was always very jealous of Both brothers for their educations, and high standing in the boxing world as ambassadors for the sport, as well as for their many charitable donations and foundations. It may not be generally known that Lewis was to fight Kirk Johnson, and had been avoiding Klitschko for a year. K. was the official #1 and Lewis ignored him. He demanded and got and extra $4 mill for fighting K. A few months after their fight Klitschko fought Kirk Johnson, and slaughtered him in a round and a half.Comment

Lennox is the GOAT. Being the GOAT doesn't mean unbeatable on a bad day or bad circumstance. He was not knocked out cold vs McCall--he was on his feet before the count of 10 and the ref waved it off. Vs Rahman he was filming Oceans Eleven, got into Africa a couple of days before the fight (not acclimated) and fought at 2 AM. LL on his best day beats any other fighter who has laced them up at least 6 times out of 10.Comment

This is no answer, and it's not true. You ignore the facts and the much literature this fight aftermath produced. No harm we have our own opinions. You also ignore the full details which I gave, and which were/are factually, true, undeniable-except by you and your pals_
Do you remember Lewis' bumptious remarks about "improving like fine wine"..and "I'm a Professor of Pugilism"...and other self-glorifying (embarrassing) statements he made before and after he got the beating of his life.
To me, a sickening creature, forgetting about Klitschko completely. He was always like that...Regardless of his high boxing ability. As obnoxious as Mayweather-in his own way.. NOT a sportsman.
As I say we can agree to differ.Comment

Much boloney but partly true. Tyson himself said he didn't want to fight Lewis but was forced into it. I heard him on the screen stating it, to no comeback. That Klitschko was on the same card was because the promoters wanted it that way, to force Lewis' hand...to an extent. Lewis alternately derided and ignored Klitschko who, the whole year was demanding to fight him, and Lewis kept avoiding him. It was talked about amongst journalists, one of whom was a good friend of mine. There were s previous opportunities for that fight.Wrong the lawsuit was because the WBC wouldn't let Lewis take a fight before the Tyson mandatory but were allowing Tyson to fight Mercer. He actually wanted Tyson removed as manadatory if the Mercer fight went ahead. Impossible for Lewis to force Tyson to fight if Tyson didn't want to. Tyson wanted that fight it was his cash out fight.
Lewis was going to fight Klitschko after the Johnson fight which is why Klitschko was on the undercard to help build the fight. When Johnson pulled out, Lewis fought Klitschko on short notice. Lewis was in the worst condition of his career and still beat him. Klitschko required over 60 stiches to his face and mouth. The young hungry lion couldn't beat the old out of shape Lewis.
The only reason he DID fought him was because if he hadn't, the whole card was to be cancelled and he'd lose a fortune. He demanded an extra $4 mill for the fight with a guy he said was a nothing.
Why should he suddenly be out of condition. Johnson was a good fighter. Tharay mercer
t's only a Lewis fan excuse. "He took the fight at 10 days notice" etc. So did Klitschko who was scheduled to fight a ham and egger. In fact it was SEVEN days notice because Lewis haggled for the extra cash for 3-4 days. before agreeing.
By the way Lewis had already baten Mercer, and had taken a massive 7 rd continuous beating and KO, from Wladimir Klitschko the year before, and ......not least was about 43 years old and ready to retire. So he sounds like a good , suitable Lewis safe Opponent.Last edited by edgarg; 10-29-2020, 02:51 PM.Comment

truly a cowardAfter both McCall fights I started calling him Lummox Lewis. In the first one McCall knocked him out cold. In the second fight McCall suffered a nervous breakdown. I remember how extremely cautious Lewis was, he was more apprehensive than he should have been for an alleged pro fighter.Comment

and in his best condition he got massacred by journeymen like rahman and mccallComment

Not really, Lennox Lewis was complacent that is all.
Miguel Cotto was massacred vs Antonio Margarito in their first fight 'That 1 fight change him for the rest of his career, when he finally came face to face with Margarito again? You could still see the trauma and apprehensiveness in Miguel Cotto still' The HBO face off was one of the darkness face off's, I had ever seen in boxing 'Margarito was chilling in demeanor'.
When Lennox Lewis came face to face with Hasim Rahman and Oliver McCalll 'There was no trauma, just payback'.Comment
