Did you guys see the brilliant defense & offensive transition of Juan Francisco Estrada, that created the second knockdown in the 11th?
Here Estrada tries to pick Cuadras jab, gets hit, but perceives that the 2 is coming right after the 1. As such, he uses a cross-arm defense to deflect Cuadras right-hand, then follows with his own left-hook and right-hand.
El 'Gallo' in a split-second, selected the right method of blocking but at the same time the right punch! Estrada knew he was not going to be able to catch & shoot as low as his left-hand was.

Carlos Cuadras botches the shift, then he puts his left-hand up very firmly to block, but he forgot that you square-up when you do that ; but Estrada seen it and barely touched him with a jab to knock-him off balance

Thanks brother. Yeah I watched 'Chocolatito' vs. El 'Gallo' when it aired on Wealth-TV back in the day when they had boxing

Do you think Gonzalez vs Estrada 1 is underrated fight? I think it was an instant classic as it was so much action non stop and I still wonder how neither man got put down!Comment

Niceeeeee, love Estrada’s ability to read his opponents and use it against them with counters to their counters!

'Chocolatito' was peaking at 108, and 'El Gallo' was already a superb talent, evident in what happen next vs. Brian Viloria. I think it says something when they put on a 2012 FOTY candidate and not hit the matt, it speaks to their elite defensive prowess and high IQ. But most people dont know the technique, they just see a lot of swinging back and forth and get bored.Last edited by 1hourRun; 10-24-2020, 06:00 AM.Comment
