Teofimo Lopez: "Everybody" wants me to rematch him

Yes I think that's fair too. A lot of people seem to think that if Lomachenko would have started applying pressure in the 4th or 5th round instead of the 7th/ 8th, that he would have won.
I would probably advise Lopez to fight Lomachenko again if he's not moving up in weight yet. That or see if the winner of Berchelt and Valdez are interested in fighting him. Devin Haney at 135 is a high risk lower reward fight for him right now in my opinion, and has the potential to he a bigger fight in a few years at 140lbs.Comment

I have never liked immediate rematches it has no appeal to me, When Mayweather rematched marcos I was disappointed because why? let Marcos go and fighter other top oppenents and show us the fans what he can do different to try and beat mayweather instead of just getting a instant do-over. Its kinda like Marquez vs Pacquaio, even though those werent immediate rematches its still was like okay you finally beat him but it took you 4 trys.
I think fighters who win a title should have 2 fights before doing a rematch that way we dont tie up the belts to the same pool of fighters, a fighter once he wins the title can have a voluntarily defense against anyone not named the person you just won the title off and a mandatory, at a minimum at least a mandatory inside of 10 months if no mando inside of 10 months you get stripped no exemptions and that title goes the vacant #2 vs #3 etc.Comment

The only problem with that approach is you risk ending up with a Joshua/Ruiz situation in the middle.I have never liked immediate rematches it has no appeal to me, When Mayweather rematched marcos I was disappointed because why? let Marcos go and fighter other top oppenents and show us the fans what he can do different to try and beat mayweather instead of just getting a instant do-over. Which then affects the potential payday of fights like Wilder/Joshua which was still marinating.Comment

i believe lopez will be moving up in weight, if rematch do happens it be interesting to see what loma brings for strategy next time.Comment

No controversy the only ones making controversial are the Loma fanboys hurt that he was outclassedComment

my way the AJ/Wilder fight would have never marinated so long and would have happened.\
But say Ruiz beat AJ My way, he wouldnt have faced AJ again and could have face wilder instead.Comment

Teo said “why?, I beat him fair and square”.
Exactly.
You guys that are upset a guy you for whatever reason felt was some generational talent lost. Sorry but winning the rematch will not being that back. It’s gone forever. You need to let go of the fantasy that Loma was somehow better than a certain fighter you hate.
This was the same garbage after a certain fight where posters ( who are more haters of a fighter and thus the outcome) talked themselves into believing the shoulder was what caused what they saw in the ring. It was the Jab, the counters the timing, the footwork and the excellence that caused that outcome.
It’s always easier to whine and believe in excuses then to admit the real reasons you spewed so much venom and we’re ultimately proven wrong. It’s ok to be wrong.
Teo owes Loma nothing. Go out and make the fights with other top guys that will make you the most money.
Win the belts at 140. Then tell Loma to come there and fight you. If you don’t vacate and stay at 135 Loma should fight Haney 1st since he already dodged him.
Win that and if Teo is still at 135, rematch.Last edited by The Big Dunn; 10-21-2020, 05:57 PM.Comment
