Besides Teofimo shouldn't be in the 135 pounds division but he can make the weight so he's bigger and stronger and faster than lomachenko. Lopez size is how he was able to take lomachenko's punches when loma finally realized he was in a fight. The bad thing about this loss is that Lopez put out the blueprint for others to follow. I'm not saying it'll be easy for others to beat loma but it did show a weak link in his armor.
This is the argument I absolutely do not understand. Why would it be worse the 2nd time around? Loma lost the fight because he barely threw in the first 7 rounds. It's that easy. He wasn't hurt, he wasn't getting outboxed, he wasn't tired, Teo wasn't a defensive genius.

When Loma started to actually fight, it was a completely different story. Teo was in trouble several times. Ward and Bradley were commenting how Loma is going for the KO (in 10th or 11th IIRC). He did beautiful, clean work, significantly outlanding Teo and getting the better of every exchange.

The punch stats make absolutely no sense.

      I cant!
It's a shame Loma's never been known to shake his head.

Loma didn’t look himself in there...was it the opponent, the layoff, is he on the slide? A rematch would definitely answer questions, but I don’t think Lopez will be at 135 for long.
Lopez was definitely the bigger, stronger man — the younger man as well. The lay-off may have had something to do with it. Then again, although Loma wasn’t himself, he wasn’t bad either. His superior speed and skill showed. It’s possible he simply just can’t get past the size and strength factors. I’d love to see them meet again. It’s the only way to know for sure.

        • No loma you didn't win. You almost got knocked out in the 12th, thanks the ref. You were never pound for pound best. Your not Floyd!!! Now you return to your rightful spot in the rankings. Behind Crawford, Alvarez, and Spence. No more hand me outs. ESPN had the guy ranked top fighter with a 2-1 record.

            • My opinon is the rounds were hard to score as Lopez's effective aggression was inaffective due to Loma's footwork and blocking.

I would not have liked to be a judge trying to figure out who won those early rounds.

                • "...I’m not going to argue it right now."

...Loma says... AS he is arguing about a fight he CLEARLY lost. Geez, and here I had a good deal of respect for the guy leading up to this point. Well, one thing for sure, he needs to go home, objectively watch/study the fight, and immediately do an interview admitted he DID in fact lose. Otherwise, he'll never regain respect... at least from me... and likely from many boxing fans.

Yeah, not really. Only one guy was throwing punches in the early rounds. Lopez was connecting to the body and a few headshots. One of which I think hurt Loma early. Those early rounds weren't even close. Teo definitely won the 12th also. I'd have to watch again but maybe even the 11th.

This site would be a much better place if more posters could bring themselves to do what jonnyc420 did in this post when the guy they like loses.

                      Kudos to you!
