Watch round 2 it wasn’t even close. Was surprised when a FH of F like Andre Ward did the same thing. I believe he let his faith Romanticize his score card.

In my opinion it wasn’t Julie Lederman it was Andre Ward who had the worst card of the night. What’s more believable 119-109 or 114-114? That was clearly not a Draw.
Very accurate....I loved Andre as a fighter, but In my opinion, he sucks as a commentator.
I think it was a psychological thing, he didn't see any way teo could win b4 the actual fight, so his mind kept coming up with reasons to give teo rounds, he was involved emotionally

I don't think Teo won the first 7 rounds.

I think Loma won the 2nd round and I could give him te 7th.

      I had it 6/6.

      Teo was not landing clean.
Yep, thats how I had it.

He does and Tim is ok sometimes but unpredictable. But what's up with Tessitore? It seems every fight he has to make a comment about Mayweather and the "Mayweather era". I get that he doesn't like him and that's fine but this seems personal. I think there might be a story there.

Very good point. It felt like the production team had the same issue. As soon as Loma started getting into the fight all the highlights became Loma replays. These things are contributing to why even with a clear and convincing win there are still people who believe Loma somehow won that fight. ESPN needs to do better or they will find themselves in the same position as HBO Boxing.

          • Well he's half right, he took over in the 2nd half. But waiting until rd 8 to start winning rounds and decisively losing the final round is a recipe for disaster. I'd have more respect for him if he'd gotten stopped, but at least went out on his shield.

That’s why I put in my original post rounds 2 & 7 were very close. Those rounds could have easily been scored for Lopez too for the final score to be 9 to 3 rounds, 117-111. That’s why I don’t have any issues with that judge or the judge that had it 116-112. But 119-109, thats means Lomo got 1 round. I saw at least 2 clear cut rounds for Lomo between rounds 8-11.

              • Say that with a straight face

                • I agree with the people who say that outside of the 12th, Loma had the "better" rounds and that he did decent damage in those rounds where it looked like Lopez was momentarily flummoxed here and there....but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit AND Teo closed the 12th with force. I had 115-113 Lopez

Someone compared it to what happened both times in Hopkins v Taylor I & II and I think it's a good comparison (and funnily enough Taylor was featured as one of only 4 belt champs on ESPN)...anyway, B-Hop figured out Taylor in the late rounds of the fights but he could never do enough during the rounds while the younger Taylor was fresh. I think that may be what is going on here - "getting started earlier" isn't going to be that easy because Lopez is very dynamic and has good reflex. I wouldn't mind a rematch though - maybe the comparison to the fights mentioned above are wrong...and "the fight" was barely just getting started. It definitely was heating up and Teo was just starting to put it on Loma..I wanted to see what was gonna happen next!

Fair enough. Julie Lederman is usually pretty decent. Her cards are a lot more accurate than her late fathers. I did see 2 clear Loma rounds also.

It was a good punch for Loma in the 2nd but not enough to win the round....JMHO.
