Underrated based on his style. People thought he slapped but plenty of fighters talked about the power in those punches.

Eubank, Woodhall, RJJ, Kessler, Hopkins, Lacy... All very good wins.

Every fighter has fights that they could have taken, but he took plenty.

    Yep, an underrated great.

What joe did as professional was extraordinary- fans dont realise how difficult it is to go 46-0.

Mayweather went 50-0 but the vast majority of fans know he didnt win every fight, whereas Joe never left it in doubt who was the winner. Joe finished his career on top, whilst mayweather has been opting to fight people who arent boxers

When joe got in the groove there was simply no stopping him, i will never forget that jeff lacy performance, a fight after which jeff lacy was never the same. Joe looked like a million dollars that night and proved all the critics wrong.

And what joe did was very different to what we see fighters such as canelo doing now, who is picking and choosing the weakest/oldest opponents at each weight, waiting until they show signs of weakness and also using performance enhancing drugs. Joe stayed at one weight and took on all comers, he didnt need judges to gift him decisions.

People diminish the jones jr and hopkins wins but lets not forget joe was no spring chicken at this time either. Hopkins was still pulling out great performances around that time but he had no answer for 'the pride of wales'.
How do the “vast majority” of fans know Mayweather didn’t win every fight?

What do you base that on?

      Your post is total garbage.

Calzaghe’s fights with Reid and Hopkins are both at the very least debatable that it could have gone the other way. So to say that he left all fights without doubt is wrong.

Secondly, to say he fought all comers is also wrong. He didn’t do that.

Thirdly, you actually just said he didn’t wait for fighters to get old when he literally said publicly that he wouldn’t fight Roy Jones in his prime because he wouldn’t win

i guess its subjective what a good win is but eubank wasn't ranked, hadn't beaten anyone good in years, and never won another fight. that doesnt sound too good to me. that sounds like canelo over mosley type fight.

woodhall? hmm i dont think woodhall was ever very good

jones? was completely shot and hand't beaten anyone ranked in 5-6 years when they fought.

lacy was never very good , its like saying berto is a very good win. i would never say that personally but once again subjective. highly ranked sure but haney is highly ranked right now. if loma beat him and haney never did anything after that its not really a very good win

hopkins and kessler yes they would be classified as very good wins but obv hopkins fight was a loss. so 1 good win and some solid wins. a lot better than tank davis but far from anything amazing or noteworthy. froch's resume is much better but he lost a couple times so he's a bum or something

          Calzaghe

Everyone has his own point of view. There is one thing about Calzaghe which no one seems to have ever mentioned-except me, well, maybe 2.

The English refs were not stopping fights prematurely. They didn't need to save the vastly superior Calxaghe. They KNEW Calzaghe's capability, and that he was actually a heavy puncher. Chris Eubanks said, not one to give praise to others, that Calzaghe was a powerful, heavy puncher.

The appearance of "shoe-shining" was just that, an appearance.

The most important this about him was that item which I've mentioned above .

When Calzaghe was fighting a good fighter, he was a bit better, unless he felt like showing off. if the good fighter happened to be a "better" fighter he had a rare capacity to "turn it up a notch". If his opponent responded ,Calzaghe found another , higher notch. He just would not be beaten.

Calzaghe was a beast, I don't care what anyone says. Crossed the pond, whooped up on who he needed to whoop up on, and retired like a boss. No need to come back once retired, no fakery......Calzaghe is SUPREMELY underrated.

It depends who you're talking too. Hes basically the euro version of ward.. some people think he is amazing others think they are overrated.. personally I always found his fights very entertaining, he and froch. I know the two are easy to hate and have massive egos but both are pretty throwback no nonsense fighters in the ring.

Oh yeah, thanks. Since boxing was pretty much shot this year and it's an election year.....I've been all invested in that. Way too many people don't realize how important this one is.

But yeah, I'm ready for all this craziness to settle down so sports can actually get back to business. With no fans in the stands, no sports can function like normal, that's TONS of lost revenue.

Joe C is legendary. But underrated and under appreciated due to where he was born.
