Props to Lopez for taking this fight!! War Loma!!
correct, unlike the others who have 0 in records tends to wait a couple of years until someone gets deteriorated and then fight. probably the worst mentality. if you are young then fight the beast on their peak unless you are just a rising puppy. but there are some young warriors that chase greatness over 0 lose. kudos for lopez in this one.

It depends on the person. People don't age identically. Some 40 year olds are in better shape than some 30 year olds.

Wilfred Benitez was completely washed up at 32. Floyd Mayweather jr was at the top of the sport at 37.

Benitez was pretty well known for not training and going off sheer talent though. Not to mention, didn’t he go pro at 15?

benitez was also world champion at 17 and had fought duran, hearns and Leonard by 24 yrs old. So his decline was wear and tear, similar to Fernando vargas. Mayweather didn't fight more than twice a yr for the final decade of his career but even he will tell you he wasn't anywehre near the same fighter he was at 37 that he was un his 20s. He's on record saying his body was breaking down. There's no science that exists that will have guys performing at elite levels at 45 consistently.

OK, so how many 40 plus year olds are you seeing across any sport performing at a high level over the past 5 yrs? Then compare that to the number of athletes who retire before 40 after seeing a serious dip in their abilities. It's mother nature that can't be stopped, not the evolution of science for athletes.

That's all true which is why I said it depends on the person.

That's all true which is why I said it depends on the fighter. Fighters age differently.
