Can Floyd be the GOAT if he hasn't had a KO since 2007?

Make them feel their fighter is truely unbeatable. No one is and no one ever will be.

And then people tout off how many “champions” someone has beaten.
In this era, those bragging rights are null and void with the watering down of multiple weight “champions” And “champions“ in the same weight class

I think unifying in today’s world is to be appreciated (especially in tough divisions)
Rather than having one or two fights in a weight class and jumping up, avoiding the tougher fights and picking the weaker competition (ahem Adrian Broner)

And WHEN a fighter fights a certain opponent and what the circumstances were are so important.
Let’s just say canelo would’ve been a sweeter win if floyd just let him go to the full 154lbs. But he wanted to be “smart” and drained him. And in my eyes. It just creates a “what if scenario”
And the shame is that I think he would’ve easily won either way. So that’s him.

Floyd’s a great fighter. But due to the fact that he carefully manufactured and managed his career so strictly, and didn’t take the really defiant fights at the precise times (although he did well in his pretty boy days)
That’s what stops him from being anywhere near the top 10 of all time.

    The guy is a great.
But don’t let flashy gimmicks, and “tbe” shouting and undefeated records take away from the fact that from the dela Hoya fight onwards he always stayed within his comfort zone and carefully chose fights when he felt he “knew” he could win.
    Smart sure.

And yeah you can say “oh but he fought Pacquiao”
    Yeah. I know. In 2015.

Where was he in 2009 after Pacquiao stopped cotto. With a list of sudden demands like full drug testing! “I know he’s on something”

Sure. In hindsight it put a magnifying glass over ped users in today’s updating testing. But the fact is, Floyd was so perplexed by Pacquiao and concerned, he would rather try and prove Pacquiao was cheating than step up and fight him. And it shows in 2015 because he fought very anxiously in a close fight (even his old man told him off in the corner)

And this is the guy that got a scandal of pumping iv fluids in his body to rehydrate after weigh ins (imagine if Pacquiao was caught doing that)

More of an entertainer, more of a businessman than a fighter.
He wants to make money and take on the least risk for the most money.
    He did it.
But that ain’t no tbe in my eyes.

That’s a clever man, doing a selfish (and understandable) act

But due to these actions, he’s well off my raider as anywhere near the greatest of all time.
How right you are. Pacquiao sued him for defamation of character, slander and libel, the case progressed. Then Pacquiao's lawyers asked for, as part of the documentation, his full medical records from Mayweather.... He CAVED, like a wilted daffodil. and settled or the usual "undisclosed amount".. Does NO ONE remember this...??

Does THIS not tell all the half-witted admirers, of the 149th best fighter, the WHOLE story of his "success". all cherry-picking, part mouth, part something in his med records that he would never disclose, even at the cost of multi-millions.......????!!

"The Artful Dodger"..By Floyd Mayweather, Penguin Books, 10 cents a copy.

Can he be the GOAT if he doesn't the KO power that Hagler, Foreman, RJJ and the other greats had?

Most people, reasonable people, don't have him as GOAT.

I know many who don't have him top 10. Boxing has a long history, longer than all other sports. Ignorance of the sport beyond the last 40 years is no excuse to have recency bias.

Well, Floyd Money Mayweather was never a huge puncher. Even at the lower weight classes of a 130 and a 135 lbs due to his brittle hands.

Although, I do admit that he had exhibited more power when he was much younger and lighter in those lower weight classes. However, Floyd's strength was and has always been his airtight defense.

Just on that one fact alone makes him one of the greatest fighters of all time in my judgement.

no, because his "money" is punching for him. he has a glass hands so he had to use cash. robbed some bouts to maintain his 0. no wonder a thailander beats his record with 54-0.

I think Floyd has a great claim as the greatest fighter of the 21st century and possibly the greatest since Leonard. Anything past that is just fanboyism to me

No respected boxing experts or boxing historians rate Mayweather as the best of all time or even top 10. Some may have him in the top 20. Of course Mayweather and some of his biggest fans rate him as the greatest. Many Mayweather fans are young and have little or no knowledge of all the great fighters in the one hundred plus yesrs before Mayweather came along.

Powerful Pac has 1 whole knockout since 2009. You won't hear the haters bring that up for some reason.
